Nice to see it being done, it is definitely a jewel, too bad the capacity had to be reduced but I guess that is the consequence of renovating it.

While some seats are being lost due to chairbacks being added to more sections, part of it is ADA requirements because there aren't enough aisles. Nonetheless, it's going to be awesome when it's done. The concourses are being widened back to what they were when it was built because the coaches offices that were added (and took away concourse space) are being moved elsewhere. I'm really looking forward to the video board. Hopefully it stays true to the character of the building and they don't try to make it too flashy. That's one thing I don't really like about Chaifetz Arena.

Is this the smallest arena in the Big East?

Personally i like the renovation proposal as a history buff i love the fact that they are staying true to the building and not eliminating as many seats as they had originally planned.

I'm not sure why you mention Chaifetz, but if you think that is flashy come on down to Louisville sometime and check out the Yum.

I mentioned Chaifetz because I went to law school at SLU and am a SLU fan when they're not playing Butler.

LOL mention away then.

But as a cubs fan who is a wriggly traditionalist i completely understand. but basketball stadiums like most things qualify for they just don't make them like they used to... another reason for Butler to keep playing at Hinkle

Not even close to the smallest arena in the Big East. Villanova plays a great majority of their games at the on campus Pavilion which seats 6,500 or so, and St. John's plays half their games on campus at Carnesecca Arena which seats 5,600.
