Oh, you can bank on that. Fox NFL Sunday will be promoting FS1 out the wazoo this fall, as will Fox's college football broadcasts, and you can be sure of crossover programming for both pro and college football on FS1. No doubt the commercial breaks will include bumpers for Big East hoops -- especially for big NFC East and NFC North games, since the Big East is in New York, Philly, D.C., Chicago, and Milwaukee. Fox isn't spending $500 million on this and not promoting it.

Of course, when Dallas is playing, they'll mention the Big 12. ;)

What would be great is if Fox decides to show a game either on Saturday or Sunday (before NFL?) on the mother channel, Fox. That would be huge.

No way does Fox interrupt 2 hours of pre-game NFL on Sunday morning for college hoops.

That would be an early basketball game, too. I wonder if Marquette could break 2000 attendance if the Packers were playing at noon.

I would expect Fox to carry some games on their main channel, other networks do. Do they already for any conference? The Big East was tied to CBS so we typically saw network games there. I wouldn't expect anything regular, though, much less something tied to football.

I don't think we'll see Big East basketball on Fox at all. What I hope is that they'll promote Big East hoops during NFL games on Fox.

Except that the Big East conference season, like with most conferences, doesn't start until after New Year's Day, so the only time Fox could do this is before an NFC playoff game.

Which doesn't necessarily rule out the idea, but they could only do it once a year, and they'd have to make sure they aren't competing with another playoff game.

CBS will show a package of AAC games, and there is no secondary deal for the Big East, Fox has all of it. Maybe they won't use their network, but seeing 5 games on FOX would hardly surprise me. I think CBS airs 2-3 games at once and part of the country sees the more interesting game, it's not national coverage. They have rights with Big XII and Pac, running a game matched with one or two from those would not be unprecedented. I'm not saying it will happen, with FS1 maybe there is no value in network coverage, but it obviously isn't unthinkable. I am curious, though, has FOX carried NCAA basketball games this past season? If they didn't, I'm inclined to say they won't next season.

As for promotion during NFL games, I think they will be used for promoting FS1 like nobody's business. What better platform will they ever get for launching a sports channel? I would suspect all of the major properties get some level of promotion this NFL season, specifically in games matching interested regions.

I assume FS1 will be airing plenty of out of conference games for the Big East too right?

Fox Sports 2 likely to launch in August alongside Fox Sports 1

News Corp.'s Fox Sports will launch not one, but two new national sports cable channels in August, according to people familiar with the plan.

In March, Fox Sports said it would debut Fox Sports 1 on Aug. 17. At the time, the company downplayed talk that it had plans for a second national service -- Fox Sports 2 -- as well.

But now insiders say Fox Sports 2 will launch around the same time and perhaps even the same day as Fox Sports 1. The new channel will take the place of Fuel TV, a News Corp.-owned network that currently carries a heavy load of Ultimate Fighting Championship programming.

While Fox Sports 1 is getting a big marketing push behind it, Fox Sports 2 will have a much softer launch. It is unclear what sports will be on the new channel initially besides mixed martial arts. Fox Sports 1 already has an impressive lineup for a start-up that includes NASCAR, college football and basketball, with regular-season and postseason Major League Baseball coming in 2014.
