According to this, Xavier, butler and Creighton have joined already? When something as simple as that is wrong it makes the entire article a bit questionable.

I don't know, the article I read said "likely additional partners."

I can understand getting the start up costs back, but not exit fees. Every school that joins will have exit fees. Why should the C7 have theirs paid back. Now if attorney fees are 3 million for each of the seven teams per year, I wouldn't join that conference if its lead by teams so dumb to pay that much.

I imagine the terms will be laid out for those schools interested and we can choose to take it or leave it. I hope that if the terms are not favorable for the invited schools that the 3-5 new schools stick together on this.

The two items I am taking away from the ESPN article:

1) The C7 is generating significant media interest. Fox is offering $500,000,000 over 12 years. (which is more than most of us expected) There are also discussions with ESPN and NBC.
2) The C7 is meeting with Fox on Wednesday, so more information should be available in the next few days.

The article was too vague on payouts to conference members. I think each conference member should be payed equally, but the C7 will incur some costs to create this conference (leaving Big East early, possibly keeping the Big East Name, etc.

Hopefully, we'll get more concrete information on Wednesday.

If the C7 presidents feel this is your price of admission, I suppose you've got two choices. Join or don't join. Simple as that.

Yes, Xavier and Butler will say absolutely no way. Then Fox tells the schools what they are now willing to offer. Then the presidents "choose" to go a different direction with the revenue allocation.

It's just not a very good league without the credibility of the additions

Everyone back away from the ledge. Unnamed sources say something and people lose their minds.

If Georgetown, Marquette, Villanova, and St. John's didn't demand a larger piece of the pie from Seton Hall, DePaul, and Providence, why would they do it from the new members?

My guess is this is a temp way to offset the costs the C7 spend in getting the media deal, getting the Big East name, setting up the new conference, and helping pay for the new teams to get out of their existing conferences.

I find it very hard to believe that Butler, Xavier, whoever would be told for 12 years they will earn less than the rest of the conference.

And even less likely that XU and Butler would agree to it.
