Considering this basically is CUSA, that makes sense.

The AA Conference...we'll drive you back to the bottle!

Look at the mess this league is going to be:

To compensate for those defections, the American Athletic Conference will add full members UCF, Houston, Memphis and SMU on July 1; East Carolina, Tulane and Tulsa on July 1, 2014; and football-only member Navy on July 1, 2015.

In 2013, the members are: Louisville, Rutgers, Central Florida, Temple, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Cincinnati, UConn and South Florida. In 2015, what will then be a 12-team league will split into two six-team divisions, the makeup of which is still to be determined. It also will hold a conference football championship game, which will be televised on either ABC or ESPN.

It's just Conference USA and they essentially named it the same thing too.

I really wonder what Temple is thinking now. Really, I don't have ANY idea what they are thinking. I do know they are regretting their move, but where they go otherwise? No idea. Gawd, they were SO much better off just staying in the A10.

A-10 bball and MAC fball or AAC bball & fball, i actually think, with memphis, cinci, and uconn in bball, the aac fball advantage outweighs the slight disadvantage of aac vs a-10 bball. i dont think they are too upset, especially if/when 2 more schools leave the a-10 for the big east and if umass heads out somewhere.
