Team Rosters for next season

Postby xnatic03 » Wed Mar 27, 2013 8:57 am

Just trying to get a feel for who each team has leaving, coming in, and coming back for next year. Who are each team's probable starters? Who do you feel will step up or needs to step up? Which freshman/transfers are will make the most impact? What do your non-conferences schedules look like so far?
I am really excited to get this league started.

I'll start then.
Potential Starters
Dee Davis - PG 6'0 JR - pass first PG who has a decent 3 point shot. Tough as hell
Semaj Christon - SG/PG 6'3 SO - lightning quick, has lottery pick written all over him. He needs to work on FTs and his 3 point shot
Justin Martin - SF 6'6 JR - when he's on, he's great. Sometimes looks like he's just going through the motions (don't think that's the case). Can reappear with some steals, key reybounds, and key shots, only to disappear just as quickly. The talent is there.
Isaiah Philmore - PF 6'8 SR - came on in the 2nd half of the year. Very physical down low. Has a decent jump shot. Lunch pail type guy.
Matt Stainbrook - C 6'10" JR - transfer from Western Michigan. Heard he will be a very good. He lost all kinds of weight in his sit out season and had his knee scoped. I am interested to see how he will do.
Reserves
Brandon Randolph - PG/SG 6'1 FR - 4 star guard from CA. From the highlights I've seen and everything I've heard, he is lightning quick with a decent jump shot. X could have really used a player like him this year to pair with Semaj.
Kamall Richards - SF 6'6 FR - 3 star SF from NY/CT. I don't know much about him other than he sounds like more of a rebounding/slashing 3 than a shooter.
James Farr - PF 6'9 SO - very raw. He needs to improve his physique and D in the offseason. Has a good jump shot. Can extend out and shoot the 3.
Jalen Reynolds - PF/C 6'9 FR - should have been eligible this year. Not having him hurt depth. From everything I've heard, he could be a huge difference maker in the post. Great shot blocker who plays even bigger than he is.
Myles Davis - SG 6'3 FR - was also ineligible this year (went to the same prep school as Sam Cassell Jr). We could have used his shooting abilities this year. He would have added much needed depth as well. He will essentially be Brad Redford's replacement (a guy who can really shoot the 3...although he's a little bigger than Brad and will be able to create his own shot a little better).
Chris Cantino - SF/PF 6'7 SR- signed in the wake of Dez Wells' expulsion for this past year. Turned out he had participated in some extra summer games that made him ineligible this year. He'll have one year of eligibility remaining. From everything I've heard, he won't play much.
Erik Stenger - PF 6'7 SR - was a transfer from NKU who was a preferred walk on before the season, then was given a scholly in the wake of the Wells fiasco. Scrapper who gave us some much needed minutes, especially early on. Good for rebounds and fouls. I don't know if he will be given a scholarship again next season. It will depend on if they fill the 2 spots they have open or not.
Landon Amos - SG 6'3 SG JR - walk-on defensive specialist who gave the starting guards some much needed rest. Didn't do much of anything offensively and probably won't play much this year due to incoming players and actually having depth next year.

That might be the most incomplete rundown of X's roster for next season I've seen. It doesn't take into account the 2 players that were ineligible this year (Reynolds and Davis) or Stainbrook, who will be the starting center.

Friars

Lose:
Vincent Council. Preseason BE 1st team. Missed 9 games with a hamstring. All time leader in school and conference assists.

Gain:
Ricardo Ledo #21 rank in '12. Ineligible this year
Carson Desriosers #64 in '10. Transfer from Wake Forest.
Tyler Harris Top 150 in '11. Transfer from NC State
Brandon Austin #56 in '13. Kid out of Philly. 6'7 wing player
Rodney Bullock Top 150ish in '13. Kid out of VA

Fingers crossed Ledo doesn't declare for the draft. Friars could be loaded. Kris Dunn, McD AA will be fully healthy off of shoulder surgery entering the season, Bryce Cotton, reigning BE scoring champ and Kadeem Batts, most improved player in BE, and LaDonte Henton, double double machine return.

Butler:

Lose - Rotnei Clarke - 6'0, 184 lbs G who led the team in scoring, Andrew Smith, 6'11, 243 lbs C who was really the only post player on the team, Chase Stigall, 6'3, 196 lbs G who was a solid defender

Potential Starters
1 - Rene Castro - 6'2, 190 lbs FR - Top 150 kid out of Massachusetts
2 - Kellen Dunham - 6'6, 185 lbs SO - Very good shooter, slumped badly at the end of the year. Averaged 9.6 ppg and was an A-10 all-newcomer team this past season.
3 - Roosevelt Jones - 6'4, 227 lbs JR - Doesn't shoot jumpers. Played a fair amount of point this year because Butler didn't have a point guard. Very versatile defender and can defend 1-4 and even defended Olynyk at times during the Gonzaga win.
4 - Khyle Marshall - 6'6, 216 lbs SR - High flier that at times can hit a mid-range jumper but does most of his damage off of dunks and shots in the lane. Isn't a good free throw shooter.
5 - Kameron Woods - 6'9, 201 lbs JR - Honestly I'm not sure who will start at the 5, but we'll stick him here for now. He's actually 6'10 and still growing. Has a 7'3 wingspan. Can hit the mid-range jumper consistently. Great defensive rebounder. Obviously needs to put on some weight, but his natural position is the 4.

Key Reserves
Alex Barlow - 5'11, 187 lbs JR - A former walk-on whose scholarship situaiton for next year is still undecided. A defensive pest. Doesn't do a ton offensively, most of it is by steals and run outs. Brings a ton of energy whether he's starting or coming off the bench.
Erik Fromm - 6'8, 223 lbs SR - pick and pop forward, takes more 3's than twos. Has been pretty shaky with his shot for the most part (but is better than in past years), but will have the most experience defending the 5 position out of anyone returning.
Elijah Brown - 6'3, 185 lbs FR - 3 star that played on Mater Dei's state championship team. Son of former NBA coach Mike Brown. Depending on the UCLA coaching search, may end up actually not being on campus if Mike Brown happens to get the job.
Nolan Berry - 6'9, 225 lbs FR - Top 150 kid out of St. Louis Missouri.
Andrew Chrabascz - 6'7, 245 lbs FR - 3 star kid out of Rhode Island
Devontae Morgan - 6'3, 175 lbs SO - 2 star kid out of Florida - didn't play much this past year, but is a very good athlete and on-ball defender

SHU Basketball is hurting right now...

Potential Starters
PG: Sterling Gibbs - 6'1 185lbs (Soph) Combo guard transfer from Texas.
SG: ??? - Isn't this awesome??? (Hopefully this spot goes to Jaren Sina (Frosh))
SF: Fuquan Edwin - 6'6 205lbs (Sr) Best player on our team. Brings it on D. Can do everything on Offense.
PF: Brandon Mobley - 6'9 210lbs (Jr) 2nd Best player on our team. Versatile can step out and hit the 3.
C: Eugene Teague - 6'9 280lbs (Sr) Averaged a near double-double this past year. Needed 2 off season surgeries. Hopefully he will be even better and 100% next season.

Bench:
PF/C: Patrik Auda - 6'9 225lbs (Jr) Injury Redshirt this past season. Typical European Style player. Can do a bit of everything.
SF: Brian Oliver - 6'6 225lbs (Sr) Can play SF and PF if needed. Can board and hit the 3. Good athlete.
SF/SG: Harolds Karlis - 6'5 185lbs (Jr) Glue Guy. Great hustle. If his offense catches up to his defense next year, he'll have a big impact.
PG: Tommy Maayan - 6'1 180lbs (Soph) PG who cannot/will not score. Very good on D, good hands and good passing.
C: Kevin Johnson - 6'10 270lbs (Soph) Big kid. Who we hope will continue to develop and will eventually take over the starting Center role.
C: Aaron Geramipoor - 6'11 225lbs (Sr) Back Up Center. 5mpg type of player.
Bench #12: ??? (Hopefully a back-up Combo Guard)
Bench #13: ??? (Hopefully a 4/5 man)

We have 3 Open Scholarships after our Starting Shooting Guard Aaron Cosby decided to Transfer and our PG Commit Aquille Carr decided to play for pay overseas and our SG Commit Jerron Wilbut was arrested and kicked out of school for armed robbery.

We are hoping to sign a Combo Guard JuCo and a Versatile Big Man JuCo as well as Northwestern de-commit SG Jaren Sina.
