The Start of the women's season is right around the corner. The Big East released the preseason poll today.

FYI, Creighton vs. Arkansas exhibition soccer game debuts on the SEC network today if anyone has it.

PC Women's soccer team played URI to a 1-1 tie after 2OT's. This was the opening game of the season for PC.

Hoyas opened the season with a 3-1 win @ Santa Clara.

Other BE results:

Depaul 1-0 over Central Michigan
Marquette 3-0 over Loyola Chicago
Butler 3-2 over Ohio University in OT
Creighton won @ South Dakota St 3-2
St. John's beat St. Francis 3-0
Seton hall won @ Marist 2-0

Xavier lost 2-1 @ James Madison
Villanova lost 2-1 to Drexel

so pretty bad day for the BE as only DePaul and Creighton win

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Abby Reed, DePaul, So., F
Reed recorded back-to-back game-winning goals as DePaul went 2-0-0 to open the season, including a 2-1 win at 13th-ranked Nebraska on Sunday. In the Blue Demons’ season opener against Central Michigan on Friday, Reed took a game-high six shots and converted in the 83rd minute to give DPU the 2-1 win. In Lincoln on Sunday, Reed’s lone shot found the back of the net in the 85th minute as the Blue Demons upset the reigning Big 10 Tournament champions.



BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Emma Newins, Georgetown, Sr., GK
Newins made seven saves in No. 20/15 Georgetown’s 1-0-1 weekend on the West Coast, allowing just one goal in 200 minutes in net. The senior surrendered her lone goal in a 3-1 win at San Diego on Friday, before preserving a 0-0 draw in the weekend finale against Long Beach State. Newins stopped six shots by the 49ers, including three in overtime, to collect her first shutout of the young season.


BIG EAST Rookie of the Week
Alexa Ben, DePaul, Fr., M
Ben was credited with two assists over two games in her first collegiate appearances as DePaul went 2-0-0 in the opening weekend of play. The second of two helpers was on Abby Reed’s game-winner at No. 13 Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. The rookie started both games at midfield for the Blue Demons.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Daphne Corboz, Georgetown, Sr., M
Corboz had a hand in all three Georgetown goals last weekend, scoring one and assisting on two as the No. 20/15 Hoyas went 1-0-1 to open the season.



Rachel Pitman, DePaul, Sr., D
Pitman anchored the DePaul defense which limited its opponents to two goals and eight shots over two games (2-0-0), including a 2-1 win over 13th-ranked Nebraska, which mustered only two shots on goal.



Kelly Mahoney, Butler, Sr., D
Mahoney scored two goals, including the game-winner in double overtime in a neutral-site contest against Ohio as the Bulldogs registered a 1-1-0 mark last weekend.



Kirstyn Corder, Creighton, Jr., M/F
Corder scored two goals, including the game-winner, against South Dakota State, as the Bluejays opened 2014 with a pair of wins.

Amanda Engel, Marquette, Jr., GK
Engel was tabbed the Marquette Invitational Defensive MVP after making six saves over two games for a 1-1-0 record. The junior denied five shots in No. 15/12 Marquette’s weekend finale against Northwestern.
