Butler and Xavier are the only ones decided for sure. That is why they are willing to add them next year. None of the other choices have all seven on board. If they did, they would be joining next year as well. I feel confident in saying that Xavier, Butler, and ultimately Creighton are a done deal. St. Louis is pretty close. If I lived in Dayton I would not be buying a Big East banner just yet. There are some schools on the east coast and one in Milwaukee that would rather have someone else.

XU i'm pretty sure all the choices have been made but as to your reasons, just why do you think Dayton is so far behind Creighton? and i'm honored that you think STL is pretty close but why just pretty close? Id figured SLU has either made its case or not, I'd like to hope that the C7 isn't making any decisions on any one year even if it would this time benefit SLU. That said here is to a good game this week good luck...

I don't necessarily think it is a dislike for Dayton. I just think that there are some very influential east coast schools that like Richmond better. St. Louis is well liked by most of the schools and they will make a good travel partner for Creighton.

Xu as much as i hope Creighton makes it. Why do you say that STL would make a good travel partner with Creighton? Creighton i think is closer to Marquette and STL is closer to X and D than it is to Omaha. Listen i could give 1,000 reasons to add Creighton and SLU and I want Creighton and SLU in but the whole St Louis Creighton travel partner thing is ridiculous. If any C7 school is going to Creighton they are flying. Its faster to drive to Creighton from both DePaul, Marquette and maybe even Butler then it is from STL. The only geographical advantage STL has over any other city to Omaha is the Missouri river and most D1 teams don't use steamboat travel.

Driving to Omaha, St. Louis is about an hour closer than Milwaukee or Chicago. Driving wouldn't be a terrible option for any of them. I've done the Marquette-Creighton run, it's not unreasonably long, <8 hours

Yes, St. Louis has closer partners than Creighton, but the nice travel partner aspect is that it gives Creighton a third school of reasonable distance.

I think STL to Omaha is about 7hours ish but you have to go through KC, so that is easily changed as it is not a straight shot. The point is STL is closer to Cincy and Dayton than it is to Omaha and it is not a natural travel partner by any stretch. Neither STL or Creighton will be getting into the league due to potential travel arrangements with each other. I also don't see this as a reason that Dayton does not get in if anything the distance to Omaha helps Dayton. If SLU makes the C7 it will be on institutional similarities, Size of Market, projections for basketball success and facilities, not over a 7 hour drive.

Interstate 70 is a way nicer drive, goes through Columbia, very pretty, about 20 degrees warmer... Omaha to St. Louis feels about 3 hours quicker... I80 and 90 are horrible (although La Crosse is the most beautiful) in the winter. I'd take a puddle jumper from Milwaukee or Chi town.

7 hours? Sheesh man, use your gas pedal! Having traveled to STL for the MVC tourney for years, the trip is 6 hours tops, unless you hit KC at rush hour.

I don't think it has a bearing on selecting STL over Dayton, but I do think that STL would be a "bus-able" trip for Creighton's Olympic sports while most of the other schools would not be.

LOL is so true... such a morbid highway... nothing but tiger tails and billboards for pornshops. I'm not sure which is worse. I'd rather drive to Chicago and over. Then cross that tract.
