Yea he was awesome today. Great article on ESPN about him:
McDermott currently has 2,107 career points. The NCAA record of 3,667 was set by LSU's Pete Maravich from 1967-70. McDermott likely won't be able to top that mark, but propelling into second place behind Portland State's Freeman WIlliams (3,249) seems doable.

There's also the chance McDermott would have the opportunity to shine on a bigger stage if Creighton receives -- and accepts -- an invitation to the Big East. Lastly, the opportunity to play a final season under his father is something he'd remember forever. Those things mean something to McDermott, I'm sure of it. But do they mean enough to lure him back to Creighton for another season?

McDermott was asked Saturday if he'd played his final game at CenturyLink Center.

"I can't really comment on that," he said. "I'm just excited we're champions. That's all my mind is focused on."

I think he just hit a few more 3-balls.

I think Saint Louis - Creighton games would be a lot of fun.

It could be the "West Coast trip" for the Big East if the cards fall that way.

In the larger picture, todays games give us a preview of what may happen---well TV is the driver and homogenous schools are the key in large city, metro areas. The advent of 10 to 12 with Creighton, St. Loius, Dayton, Xavier, and Butler incompasses most of the Mideast-Northeast areas of TV coverage with several notable exceptions------Cleveland, Detroit, Columbus, and Pittsburgh. Go to 14 schools with U of Detroit (Detroit tv) and Duquesne U (Pittsburgh tv), both Private/Catholic--although not a requirement by any means, and both with a history of great BB going back along time. Columbus is Ohio State and the tv market reaches to Dayton so that is that---there are not D1 collages with the same private school outlook available in Cleveland area so pass-----that gives the new BIG EAST 14 SCHOOLS, 7 in a division; MIDEAST AND NOTHEAST divisions of the BIGEAST-------all major tv areas covered with one, could say two exceptions if venture into Uper State NY---addition of Detroit and Pittsburgh should be a win/win for tv coverage goes way, way up. Play teams in your division twice ---that's 12 games and the other division once---total of 19 games with a conference championship also. By having divisions cuts down on travel expenses---BB is the driver and similar schools makes it really, really competitive for the budgets and play on the court.

Win out or lose out, hard to see Marquette getting anything but a #3 seed. We lose the tiebreakers against Louisville and Georgetown (I think) but win against Syracuse, Notre Dame, and Pittsburgh. We have clinched a #3 seed as far as I know and need unlikely help to improve on that. The only realistic hope left for the regular season is a shared conference title.

I can tell you that the Friar faithful have been on the edge of their seats for weeks now. Every game is a must win. It's one hell of a ride, and I think I lost a year of my life in the process.
