Yeah...the timing for move is very bad for Siena ! But thats what you get with a bad head coach. But again..he is going to ge fired without a doubt - then go after slam dunk for their next head coach !! Look for them to win the MAAC NEXT YEAR!

Not trying to turn this into a Siena board but what slam dunk coach are you planning to attract?

With UConn not being in the C-7, it's too bad Connecticut doesn't have another school ready to join the new league. Fairfield has a great location, being close to Metro NYC, on the Gold Coast, and on the commuter rail/ Amtrak, and far enough away from St John's to not crowd them. Fairfield would have to really improve and jump to the A-10 first to be considered though, so it would be way in the future. As it stands, it looks like PC will be the only C-7 team in New England.

The most prominent feature of Casey's school is its #337 RPI. Perhaps Creighton to the C7 and Misery State to the SWAC?

Yet two years ago we were undisputed Valley conference champs. We are every bit as much of a bellcow to the conference as you and Wichita State is. We are one of only 3-4 schools I believe that since the sping of 1999 have gone to a Sweet 16, made it to the Women's Final Four, and had our team in the baseball College World Series. To the best of my recollection Creighton has done none of those things during that time period. In the words of the legendary Jim Calhoun "get some facts."

You're right, sorry, the RPI is 331.

Does anyone really know how teams are going to get added? I mean do the seven current president just vote or do the schools being considered have to make a pitch? If they are voting, does it need to be unanimous or a simple majority? I find this so fascinating and would love to know how the decisions get made.

Everything I've read so far is 10 or 12 w/12 more likely. Who knows how they choose though.

I have to give them credit, they are doing a great job of keeping a tight lid on this among the 7 and among the various potential targets. After a couple of, "we sure would be interested in that" comments at the beginning, no one is spilling anything. THe pundits who are putting out the occasional article about this are more than likely FOS and just trying to look like they're important.

I wouldn't be surprised if we wake up one day and suddnely there was going to be a monsterous concurrent presser from a dozen campuses across the country; perhaps it will be a single presser with 10 or 12 university presidents all sitting happily in a single room.

I hope the C7 goes to 12 with Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga (if the travel works), Creighton and VCU. We could expand again in a few years. But I like that group of twelve

I don't see VCU being on the list if they go to 12. I could be wrong, but I'd be surprised.

Will there be a requirement of funds for recruiting, facility, coaches salaries, marketing ect...if so I think SLU Dayton will be fine additions. Xavior and Butler are there in dedication already!

Twelve teams make sense in one aspect. Could be seperated into two sections, eg. East & West, for geographical convenience and efficiency. It would also enhance championship competition interest.

As to Creighton, seems a natural. Tradition, facilities, program and one of Nation's better home attendance records year after year, around 16,000 per game!

I think I have been convinced that 12 makes more sense than 10. As an old school Big East guy it's going to be hard for me to reconcile conference game trips to St Louis, Dayton, and Omaha. The bright side is that going to two divisions of 6 teams will allow for us to keep all of our Big East rivalries intact in an eastern division while still making the conference work with like minded institutions.
