Marquette - DePaul (come one DePaul, make this more fun!)
St. John's - Seton Hall (Makes the most sense)
Georgetown -Villanova
St. Louis - Creighton
Xavier - Dayton (if UD gets in, Butler if VCU/Richmond/someone else)
Butler - Providence (they both wear black?)
You guys are trying to hard this is a league that will be full of private ed students from major cities with long standing rivalries. See as follows.
East
Nova v. GT Philly v. DC
St. Johns v. Seton Hall - NY v NJ
Providence v. St. Johns - NE v. NY
Nova v. St. Johns Philly v. NY
Richmond/VCU would be the hard one as the only true rivalry would be DC v. Virginia but hell they fought a war in the 1800's it might work.
(plus all the good History that was the Big East)
Moving on BE 5 v. 6 west teams BE 5 angry cause they are upstarts not from east coast- midwest teams upset for the ole east coast bias (that seems to work for rivalries in the MLB and NFL which you might want to see a connection to these cities if you havn't already.)
West
Marquette v. Depaul - Milwaukee v. Chicago easy enough
SLU v. Depaul - St. Louis v. Chicago easy enough and STLs fan base is pissed about being stuck in the A-10 while depaul got in the Big E
X v. Dayton obvious rivals plus x fans still are bitter about not getting in the old midwest conference.
Add in Dayton v. SLU, Marquette and Depaul for not bringing them into the old Conf USA
SLU v. Marquette good rivalry before Milwaukee v. St. Louis and Marquette left them for the Big East with Depaul
Add in everyone against Dayton fans.. cause well their annoying and wear sweater vests... add dayton against all the others because they think they are unfairly judged because they are not in a top tier city.
Butler is tough- none of these schools have any real rivalry with Butler other than the fact that their from Indiana and while we like hoosiers and its an honor to play at the Hinkle but Indiana is regarded as the armpit of the midwest for a reason.
I don't think Creighton is in but if they are feel free to say versus st. louis trust me they hate the fact that STL looks down on their lil valley conference and all there accomplishments there.
Cross regions
any west vs. Georgetwon for the stereotype of being above everyone else
any west v St. Johns... .i mean who doesn't cheer against NY
any west v Nova... i'm sure at least one nova fan booed santa( i mean its philly)
any east v. Marquette (just who are these guys thinking they can play with us at our sport)
any east v. any ranked west team (again just who are these guys thinking they can play with us at our sport)
any east v. dayton.. (just wait till the seatervests fill your arenas they are like cockroaches)
The fact is we don't have to try for rivalries it is in most of these fan bases blood to root against our rust belt cities year round in all sports. These colleges are peers, recruit the same kinds of students, and well when we go back to the office/computer the alumni we wanna talk smack too. I mean lets face it this league is going to be fun.... real fun... and i look forward to friendly smack talking all of you guys.
You are high if you think Butler isn't rivals with Xavier

It was?!? Sorry, I was there at the end of our CUSA days and had completely forgotten St. Louis was even in it until this whole mess started.
yorost wrote:I probably did see a St. Louis game. Being a part of that group in CUSA was pretty exciting as we were making a real push to being a major. Big East sure ended that. I could have told you the Big East teams along with Memphis and Charlotte were there, but the rest I'd forgotten who was who. Rivals don't slip your mind.

I'm from Wisconsin, but grew up in Badger's territory. Marquette was the school people grudgingly supported because they were in the state, but you never saw the games on tv. So I didn't play close attention until Crean's first year.
I'm not trying to be negative towards St. Louis, ever since you hired Majerus I've rather liked you. I just don't think it was a rivalry. Louisville was our main rival, no question, while I was there. Cincy and DePaul were the others. That's not saying St. Louis was bad at the time, Memphis was never like a rival, either.
