Huntington Prep went 1-1 yesterday, losing to Arsenal Tech & the unstoppable Trey Lyles in the last game of the tourny. Delgado had an impact on both games, mostly as a dominant rebounder. Between the two games Delgado averaged 3.5 ppg & 10 rpg in only 19 min/g b/c of foul trouble. HP is absolutely LOADED with 4* & 5* ballers. Some reviews:

@NextCats: Trey Lyles, Angel Delgado battling hard in the post.

@NextCats:
Thomas Bryant and teammate Angel Delgado block multiple shots to force a turnover. Bryant so excited he nearly shoved Delgado to the floor.

@BFlinnFuture150:
Thomas Bryant looks about 10 times tougher than he did last spring. So much potential. He and Angel Delgado controlling the glass right now.

@NDkendrick: Angel Delgado and Thomas Bryant having some fun out on the court! Thats what it is all about.

Awesome write up on Delgado. He's hit the scene hard and quick so much of his story is still getting out.

Delgado is an intellectual player with good to great skill sets across the board. Angel spoke with us about his goals for his final prep season at Huntington. “I expect and want to just come to Huntington Prep [and] bring a sense of energy and hustle to [this] team.” He added “The goals I set are really simple. To come in and be the best rebounder I can and play 110% every game, [as well as] doing all the little things that some players don’t want to do.” Angel brings an energy and passion to this team and has proven over his entire prep career that he will go above and beyond for his teammates and coaches. AD is a complete ball player and you can regularly find him all over the court, which makes watching him extremely entertaining.

According to Eric Bossi, National Basketball Recruiting Analyst for Rivals.com, in an exclusive interview with CHMF he raves about Angel’s work ethic and rebounding ability saying “Delgado is a no-nonsense, take no prisoners type of front court player. His rebounding is what allowed him to build his reputation, but make no mistake about it, he has the offense and his quickness attacking from the high-post makes him a tough cover.” Bossi also spoke to CHMF about how Angel jumped on the national scene adding “[Angel] was really one of the feel good stories of the summer. Nobody really knew about him and he went from a hardworking front player that started catching people’s eye in the Spring, all the way to a legitimate Top 50 player nationally by the end of Summer.

Angel has proven to scouts, coaches, and teammates that he is a selfless player and one that allows his play to do his talking. Delgado talked about being a unanimous Top 50 player nationally, saying “Being Top 50 in the nation is something that I had to work for, it wasn’t just given to me and is a major blessing.” Delgado also shared a little insight on his commitment to Seton Hall and how Head Coach Kevin Willard impacted his decision. “I think Coach Willard is a phenomenal coach, but even a better person. I think he will do everything in his power to [make] me better and get me to the NBA (which he adds is his dream!).”

Long story short, nice young man with plenty of game and even more potential (and he got tricks!)

From Scarberry Media:

"2014 forward Angel Delgado had a monster game against Ezell-Harding (TN) in Frankfort, Kentucky including a trio of dunks in the second quarter to push the lead before the halftime break. The future Seton Hall Pirate is one of the top big men in the country and will join a loaded class in New Jersey along with Isaiah Whitehead, Khadeen Carrington, and Ismael Sanogo."

Angel and Huntington Prep (12-2) get a rematch against UK signee Trey Lyles and Arsenal Tech (4-1) tonight at 9:30p ET on ESPN. Lyles carried AT to a 54-51 upset over the stacked HP team a couple weeks ago at the Marshall County Hoopfest. I saw that game, it was filled with hi-major talent. PC signee Jalen Lindsey is back from injury and will play tonight, he missed the last game.

Delgado played one minute in the ESPN game the other night. And now has left school due to academic issues. Chances of him ever playing for Seton Hall: slim and none and slim just flew out the window.

People close to the situation think it was more about playing time than anything else, there is actually a tweet that says that. He is transferring with good academic standing so there is still a lot of time to see if he suits up. His grades in America were never in question, just credits from the Dominican

I agree let's stay positive:

@AdamZagoria: Seton Hall pledge Angel Delgado will enroll at The Patrick School (formerly St. Patrick), his AAU coach Dana Dingle tells @SNYtv

Full write up by Zags:

"Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford said the 6-foot-9 Dominican Republic forward left the school because “of a combination of academics and playing time.” Dingle said he was also homesick. “He left in good standing,” Dingle said. “The kid was just homesick. The only people he has here is his uncle. It was just too much. He had no family and no friends.”'

For all those that were concerned future Pirate PF is doing well at his new school in all aspects according to Zags:
The Patrick School’s head coach Chris Chavannes spoke with SNY.tv about the reason, as well as what he brings to the program. “He had visited our school before he left Redemption Christian [in Troy, N.Y.],” Chavannes said. “That was before he ended up at Huntington Prep. He was just homesick, wanted to be closer to home, it really wasn’t that big of a thing. He’s so happy now, and so acclimated now, it’s almost like he’s been playing with us for four years.”

Not too long after he arrived in New Jersey, the 6-foot-9 Delgado and the team traveled out to Torrey Pines, Calif., to play in the Under Armour Holiday Classic, where the Celtics went 2-1, beating Bishop O’Dowd (CA) and Westtown (PA), losing to Loyola (CA).

“Angel is a very good rebounder as well as a great scorer,” Chavannes said. “He doesn’t just score with his back to the basket, he can score facing the basket, too. He is a very good ball-handler as well. He can bring the ball down the court, and is a player that can come in and produce right away.”

Published on Jan 5, 2014: Seton Hall bound 6-9 Angel Delgado '14 played against Loyola's 6-11 Thomas Welsh '14 (UCLA), Bishop O'Dowd's 6-9 Ivan Rabb '15 and Westtown's 7-1 George Papagiannis '15. Power forward Angel Delgado has the size and skill to be a force inside
