This is kind of like saying Jill Stein got the most votes for president behind Barack Obama, Mitt Romney and Gary Johnson.

Or maybe it's going to mean something... for both schools. ;)

Maybe they've seen the writing on the wall re: Catholic 7 and are now positioning to be with the football Big East.

I realize they'd probably have to add another 2 or 3 women's sports to be balanced but they have to start somewhere.

Not going to begin to be a possibility unless and until the Redskins abandon their new Richmond off-season facilities. And of course those haven't even been constructed yet.

Nice try, combining VCU's endowment with MCV's. And it's still a third of ours. I'm sure MCV is anxious to take all of its scientific research endowment money and use it to fund an expansion of the Siegel Center or create an endowed coach's position for the Almighty Shaka. Give me a break.

To be fair, what is UofR really doing with their endowment when it comes to athletics? Any honest UofR fan would tell that the Robins Center is a dump.

Yes, Richmond has plans to upgrade the Robins Center ($15 million is what the RTD reported), but VCU has $12 million in upgrades planned for their already nicer arena that they recently just put $4 million in to add luxury suites and update the offices, and that doesn't include the $14 million practice facility that will be attached to the building.

VCU has over $70 million budgeted for upgrades. You think they are going to swipe their endowment fund debit card to get that money? Of course not.

The Robins Center is not a dump. It's 40 years old and needs some lighting enhancements and some video/audio enhancements along with some suites, and that's what will be added in this expansion. All of our seats are permanent, as opposed to the Seagull Center's bleachers, which fold up like a cheap tent after the game is over. But I'm not here to criticize your arena. It's a great environment, but it's much smaller and aluminum looking than the Robins Center.

Who the heck is MCV? Why does VCU get to add their endowment to its own? Nice attempt to pad your numbers.

MCV = Medical College of Virginia...which is the old name of VCU's Medical School, currently known as "VCU Medical Center".

Which is why VCU gets to pad their endowment numbers...because it's VCU.

Dude...it's a dump. I interned there in grad school, saw the guts of the place. They may upgrade some of the bells and whistles that you guys see, but it also needs a ton of improving in the areas the fans don't see. Could also use some upgrades to the concourse/bathrooms.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match. I get it – you think our basketball program, our fanbase, our arena and everything about our university is not up to your high standards. So be it. A "dump" would indicate things are broken, in disrepair, the roof leaks, the concrete floors are cracked or have pieces missing, lights don't work, etc. None of that is the case with the Robins Center. It may not look as modern in every way as an arena built yesterday but it is in fine shape and there's not a bad seat in the house. We are modernizing it to enhance the fan experience, not because we are embarrassed by it.

I thought the Redskins were using the site by the Science Museum. That means City Stadium is available and very convenient to VCU's campus. Seems rather possible from my vantage point.
