Post your preseason scrimmage results.

Xavier played Dayton in a charity scrimmage at UD. UD Arena was sold out, although I don't think the arena was full. The game was televised on ESPN+ which was nice.

Xavier won 98-74. Even though it was a scrimmage, it was nice to blow out the Flyers on the their home court. Last time X played UD was in the 2015 Advocare Invitational Final, which X won 90-61.

Great to see Zach Freemantle and Jerome Hunter back on the court, and honestly, they both looked better than I thought they would after not playing last year.

Indiana State transfer Ryan Conwell could be Xavier's best player this year. He's got a smooth game and can stroke it.

McKnight will be a Top 2 or 3 point guard in the BE this year.

Furman transfer Marcus Foster was impressive. He's a big 6'7 wing player who can guard and make plays. Toledo transfer Dante Maddox Jr. will probably be the 6th man and can fill it up.

Sophomore Dailyn Swain looks like he's bulked up and will probably start at the SF position.

Xavier's biggest weakness could be post defense and rebounding. I don't think offense will be a problem.

Losing Lassina Traore to an ACL injury a couple of weeks is a big blow. He would've been the starting center and would've been one of the best rebounders in the league.

Looking foward to watching this team play. I think this team will resemble Sean's first team from a couple years ago when X made the S16. I think this team can be better defensively though...fingers crossed.

Thanks, excellent report. I was glad to see McKnight was second team preseason all BE. He's going to have a great year.

Creighton plays Purdue tonight, will report something if nobody else does.

Creighton beat Purdue 93-87, very entertaining game. Highlights:
-- Pop Isaacs (3rd team all B12 at Texas Tech) hit 4-6 3s, finished with 24 points. He's going to score a ton this year, and Ashworth looks much more comfortable. Downside is CU is going to suffer at times with two small guards. Defense will be a problem, and both are susceptible to traps by bigger players.
-- Freshman Jackson McAndrew (top 50 recruit) looked very comfortable. High release and he's 6-10, so can get a shot off easily.
-- Both teams struggled defensively, but neither coach made many adjustments during the game. Mac normally would have doubled Braden Smith to get the ball out of his hands, but instead watched him come off high ball screens over and over and over ... 31 points.
-- Jays had a 9 pt lead with about 3 minutes left and pulled starters, going with 3 freshman (one a pretty good walk-on) and two sophs. Worked out, but much teeth gnashing in the stands. Nobody cared that it was an exhibition.
-- Mason Miller started at 4 last year, might be the 4th option there this year with Jasen Green, Isaac Traudt and McAndrew all bringing more size and physicality. The 6-9 Miller played some 3 last night.
-- Kalk dunked on Edey's 7-4 replacement. That was kind of fun.
-- Big Ten sucks.

How about a PC report? Anybody?

On October 17, St. John's beat Rutgers at their place 91-85 on the Big Ten Network. Johnnies were down double digits in the second half but came back for the exhibition W. Proceeds from the game went to pediatric cancer research.
On October 26 they beat Towson at Carnesecca 64-46. Proceeds from the game went to Autism Speaks.
