That articles says "Estimates of the value of the new agreements see the conference nearly doubling its annual rights payments", so they're just floating some estimates here, nothing official. They even say "Financial terms were not disclosed."

I think ~$7m per school would be a big letdown and not likely given how many media partners wanted in on this deal.

One source suggests to Front Office Sports that the league will see an increase of around 30% to 40% on the average annual value of the current deal. The existing package averages about $41.7 million per year, so the future deal could be worth in the $55 million range annually, divided among the league’s 11 schools.

That would come out to $6.8 to $7.3 million over the duration of the deal. I would guess that it starts at $6.8 million (2026) and concludes with $7.3 million (2032). If we continue to operate that the basketball value of a TV deal is valued at 20% of its total, ~$7 million per member per year puts us firmly in the same range as the Big 12 and ACC; however, the Big 12 has their current TV deal end in 2031, where the ACC runs through 2036. I would expect the Big Ten, SEC and Big 12 to all attempt to poach ACC schools (assuming FSU and Clemson are gone in the next 12 months) in 2030. I would predict, given that there aren't infinite spots in each of those conferences, that - after the B1G and SEC gobble up what they want - the Big 12 will have its pick of several valuable (to them) properties that remain. I only share that because its quite possible UConn is not pulled in by the Big 12, because it has the opportunity for other properties (namely, Louisville, Miami, Pittsburgh, etc.). It's also possible that schools like Syracuse and Boston College are left behind, which puts them in the exact same position UConn was in previously.

Anyways, plenty of time to worry about that later. For the next several years, the Big East is locked and secured financially. A great day to celebrate.

The bolded point you made provides some consolation, if not a firm dose of reality. At least $7mm would make for slightly better optics, because a bump to $5mm isn't all that great, especially with what we're going to be disproportionately saddled with in terms of having to pay players from years gone by.

I guess we'll wait for them to finalize it, or if they've actually done that by now, officially report it so that we know exactly where we stand.

Locked On Uconn's sources say there will be a Major increase. Sources alluding to near the $1 Billion mark...for the 6-year period.

The new 6 year contract…according to Zanetto & his sources: “is supposed to have a significant rights fees increase, almost to that $1 Billion mark, over a six year period. This is a huge windfall for the Big East!”
We shall see...whenever the conference decides to air the terms & dollars.

For what it's worth $7.6 Million is the old $500 Million over 6 years. ($500 M, over 6 yrs (rather than 12) = $83.3M/yr Div by 11= $7.6M/school/yr.)

$600 Mill over 6 yrs = $100 mill/year. Div by 11 = $9.1 mill/school/yr
$700M over 6 yrs = $116.7M/yr. $116.7M div by 11 = $10.6/school/yr.
$800M over 6 yrs = $133.3M/year. $133.3M div by 11= $12.1M/school/yr.
$900M over 6 yrs = $150M/yr…div by 11 = $13.6M/school/yr.
$1B over 6 yrs = S166.6M/yr. $166.6M div by 11 = $15.2M/school/yr.

Reasonable estimates were always around 6M, so slightly below that isn't very surprising.

I want to add that BE travel is probably much cheaper than ACC or B12's, so given roughly same payments we'd come out ahead.

Random ECU fan here. I just wanted to congratulate you all on this TV deal. The move to break away and do your own thing (esp UConn) keeps proving to be the right move. Maybe one of these days ECU will have a respectable basketball program. I live near Davidson and go to their games occasionally so my dream for them is the Big East, though I doubt it ever happens.
