And trust me, there has been talk about in the past about Georgetown and St. John's joining the ACC which is not far fetch considering the ACC can lose up to 8 teams from the Big 10, SEC, and Big 12 respectively. St. John's and Georgetown can join the ACC the way Notre Dame did, which is all sports except football. Also note, they will get the support since the remaining schools will be former Big East Memebers. Now will this happen, probably not, but you never know what the future holds. So, with that being said, I think if Thompsons felt differently, and since they have the ear of their administration, you know the rest of the conference would be concern. Do you think coach K don't have the ear of Duke Administration? Just some food for thought.

I hear what you are saying but if the ACC gets raided and loses alot of teams, are they really that attractive to BE7 teams? Seems like they would be joining a newer version of what they left and be in a football/basketball hybride league again.

It's an interesting theory, but would essentially be entering exactly what the BE was. Unless the lure of continued games with Cuse and Pitt make that much difference. I think the C7 have plans laid out and there's no turning back at this point.

But both Father and Son (Thompson) play a major role in the direction of the Basketball program. Thompson the third is a major voice on getting the IAC built sooner rather than later. There no major baketball decision being made admistration wise without the Thompson clan being consulted first. If you don't see that, then you don't really know about G'town basketball.
Having influence at G'Town in basketball matters is one thing, but I'm sure the presidents and ad's at the other C7 schools could care less about JT3.
You're missing his point. If JT3 says something about the conference you better believe he's already said it President DeGioia. While its unclear how all these decisions are being made, it is clear that Georgetown is taking the lead in many areas. Finally most statements (if not all) that come out of Georgetown are calculated. If the decision had already been made Gonzaga didn't work geographically, I really don't see JT3 making statements about wanting them in the league.
[Gonzaga coach] Mark [Few's] done a great job out there. I’d be for that but I don’t know whether that’s realistic.
