Sounds like we can cross Soriano off any lists. Pitino just kneecapped him.

Also, Scheierman is the most improved player in the league. He does so many things. The ONLY player in NCAA history with : 2,000 PTs, 1,000 rebounds, 500 assists, and 300 3pt fgs. Amazing stat!

The only person to do this and he shouldn't be POY!

Nice stat but it's not a Lifetime achievement award. If it were then he would win it unequivocally as you're implying. However it is not.

I guess this isn't a lifetime award.

By: Rob Anderson
Story LinksOMAHA, Neb. -- Creighton senior Baylor Scheierman is one of 30 players named to the 2024 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's Player of the Year Midseason Team.

Scheierman is the third different Bluejay honored by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club this season for one of its Naismith Trophy-related awards. Trey Alexander and Ryan Kalkbrenner were both named to the Naismith Trophy Men's Preseason 50 Watch List, while Kalkbrenner also was one of 15 men listed on the Naismith Trophy Defensive Player of the Year Watch List.

A guard from Aurora, Neb., Scheierman is averaging 18.3 points, 8.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game for the 17th-ranked Bluejays.

Because of COVID, he got five full years to do it and only played two years in the BE. He's NOT getting a Lifetime Achievement Award here.

Kadary Richmond deserves a shout. 8th in points, 10th in rebounds, 5th in assists and 2nd in steals.

The St John's roster by Pitino...
Easy for me say, but here is my Monday morning quarterbacking:

Great moves:
dump Addae-Wusu.
dump Curbelo.

Great signings:
Jenkins
Dingle
Luis
Alleyne
Ejiofor
Conway.

Should have kept:
Posh
Storr
David Jones.

Should not have signed:
Ledlum... i almost never see him make a key play. misses tons of big shots. typically looking to shove or fight and generally acts like a jackazz.

Soriano:
Mixed bag. Has always had an annoying attitude, looking to mix it up. Needed to rein in Ledlum. Tough to let his size and rebounding go.

Trading Ledlum for Posh wouldve led to several more wins, with St Johns having had so many close losses.

Over on the SJU board, I have been arguing on Posh's behalf since Pitino got hired. We never should have let him get away. Everything this roster lacks, he provides (except shooting)... but the other stuff toughness/fight/pressure defense/being able to defend dynamic guards. He can do all of that. We needed a player like that this season and we had one who played here for 3 years.

Idk if St. John's is a tournament team with Posh, but I think they definitely are if they were able to keep Posh and Storr. Just add it to the list of St. John's "what ifs" which is longer than Santa's naughty/nice list at this point

Based on Pure Numbers these are the top 11 Players in the conference today:

KEY: PlAYER | PPG | APG | RPG | SPG | BPG

POY Baylor Schierman | 18.4 | 4.1 | 8.7 | 0.9 | 0.1

1ST TEAM Devin Carter | 19.2 | 3.4 | 8.2 | 1.6 | 0.9

1ST TEAM Kadary Richmond | 16.2 | 5.1 | 7.0 | 2.0 | 0.6

1ST TEAM Tyler Kolek | 15.7 | 7.2 | 4.9 | 1.7 | 0.1

1ST TEAM Trey Alexander | 17.1 | 4.7 | 6.0 | 1.1 | 0.6

1ST TEAM Tristen Newton | 15.0 | 5.8 | 6.7 | 1.2 | 0.4

2ND TEAM Ryan Kalkbrenner | 17.1 | 1.3 | 7.3 | 0.3 | 2.7

2ND TEAM Josh Oduro | 16.4 | 2.0 | 7.1 | 0.9 | 1.5

2ND TEAM Quincy Oliver | 19.1 | 1.9 | 5.4 | 1.4 | 0.0

2ND TEAM Joel Soriano | 15.0 | 1.3 | 9.3 | 0.2 | 1.6

2ND TEAM Oso Ighodaro | 14.3| 2.8 | 7.5 | 1.0 | 1.2

Scheierman and Carter are ahead of the pack. On numbers alone it goes to Carter.

But Providence looks like they are going to finish around .500 in conference and I just don't see POY going to Carter for that reason alone.
