A Huskies/Jays final would have been fun, but it will still be enjoyable to watch UCONN thrash the ACC before taking care of the surviving mid major upstart.

CBSSports pundits have UConn unanimously winning the championship. I hope they are right!

"Just kind of got back to the team that we were early in the season. The Big East conference is the best conference in the country, so we went through some struggles. Once we got out of that league and started playing non-conference teams again, we got back to that team that looked like the best team in the country,"

Is Danny Hurley taking Ed Cooley's role of hyping up the league? I like it

As nice as it is to hear Hurley say that, he made another point, which I think was in that same interview but not included in the clip. He referred to the fact that this UConn team is a unique team and that when teams see them for the first time, they have a lot of trouble with them. He referred not only to the combination of talents in their starting lineup but the fact that after a team is hit with the challenges which that starting 5 presents, they then bring 7’2” Clingen off the bench which presents a whole different challenge.

The Big East has a lot of great coaches. They figured out how to neutralize some of UConn’s strengths - especially Sanogo and Jackson, the latter whom the BE coaches frankly turned into a liability for UConn. But as Hurley said, he is a unique talent and when other teams encounter him for the first time, he is very disruptive and his defense can trigger easy baskets on the break. Sanogo started to develop a passing game which he has begun to show in the tournament.I think that UConn really benefitted from BE play because after teams adjusted to what they were doing and caused that losing streak in January, UConn adjusted in return and started winning again. They are really a much better team than they were 2 months ago. Playing in the BE has made them better and much more of a threat in the tournament.

UConn’s ability to I,prove as a result of conference play really stands in sharp contrast to Gonzaga’s collapse in the tournament once they’ve gotten beyond the first couple of rounds. The lack of strong competition from top to bottom in the WCC resulting in many easy wins for Gonzaga means they don’t get pushed to become better and at some point they reach their ceiling. It’s amazing that they’ve gotten to 5 Elite 8’s and 2 championship games in the past decade, but I think they could have been better. Except for the title game which was stolen from them in 2017, they have inevitably run into a team who was better prepared for the moment. That program really needs to get into a better conference.

Miami can score. This game should be a great one. Can Miami handle UConn's size?

From Norlander:
UConn’s Jordan Hawkins is “a go” to play tonight, source reiterates to CBS Sports — and he will be in the starting lineup, barring any late change.

Hawkins’ shooting ability is a key component for UConn tonight against Miami.
