2017 - 7 bids 13 credits

Your post on page 1 showed the above. This year is already at 13.

10 teams back then vs. 11 now with UCONN.

The B10 sent 9 teams last season and earned 18 credits without a team in the elite 8. The ACC sent 5 teams last season and earned 18 credits with 2 teams in the final 4. Having a lot of teams add up. It doesn't help with perception, but B10 laughed their way to the bank last season.

Ok, I didn't realize we were comparing against other leagues from previous years. Pretty amazing what the Big East could accomplish if they keep this rolling.

Considering how we started out poorly out of conference, I think 13 credits is really good. 15 or more would be amazing. Sorry part of my previous post was meant for Stever.

I agree, but it's hard to go 8-2. And again, we need UCONN and Creighton to win their next games to top 2017's 7 teams.

not if you're seeded the way the league was this year. Yes, UConn got lucky, but then again, Marquette didn't.

Would it have been nice if Nova or Seton Hall had gotten in? Sure. But not at the cost of the seeds of the top 4 teams.

I guess Nova could have gotten in without hurting others if we had managed to avoid 2-3 bad losses, but alas. We can't optimize it to our liking and the seeds we ended up with was fortunate. This was as close to ideal situation as we could have hoped for given early OOC struggles.

What you're saying is why I'm so pro expansion. With more teams, you can have more teams in the tourney, but still have the great seeds. Have your cake and eat it too.

How does getting more teams into the tournament help if we’re an expanded conference. Expansion only brings negatives IMO.

Because you can get more teams in the tournament, yet still keep teams getting high seeds. w/o expansion, it's a zero sum game. If Nova or Seton Hall had gotten in this year, they would have done so due to wins over the top 4 teams. That would have lowered those teams seeds. I mean, lets say one of those wins was against Creighton. Now instead of getting a 3 seed in round 2, it's a tougher 2 seed.

Who cares if a 20 team conference gets 10 teams in the tournament vs a 12 team conference getting 6? Proportionately it’s the same. Financially it’s worse because there’s still a finite number of teams at the top of the tournament and in a bigger tournament Final 4, or Final 2, or championship money is being distributed more ways.

What our experience was in a 16 team conference was that there was less mobility. Teams who fell to the bottom 4-5 spots in the conference tended to stay there. It became almost impossible for a team to dig itself out of that hole. I wouldn’t want to see the league get any bigger than 12.

14 credits secured, and both UCONN and Creighton are favored in their next games. 16 credits is max possible, and maybe it shouldn't be surprising given how the conference dominated the transfer portal last year.

Creighton decides whether it's 15 or 16 tomorrow afternoon.
