The Georgetown announcement had what Providence was 10 years pre-Cooley. Under .500 6 of 10 years 1 NCAA tourney.

I looked Georgetown last 10 years under .500 5 of 10 years(with 2 others at .500) with 2 NCAA tourney.

Uncanny how similar that is.

Yeah, I had heard various mentions of connections between him and Thompson, so I decided to look this up. It explains both why Georgetown really liked him as an option (basically a Big John approved coach) and why Cooley would be seriously interested when he had just received a long term commitment from Providence.
