Sounds like we could be starting with 10 then. From what I've heard, St. John's are keen on Dayton over SLU, Creighton and VCU.

Any idea why SJU take that position?

Your guess is as good as mine - was told from a friend that SJU were making the case for Dayton but other schools weren't as sold on it. Dayton has great tradition as a college basketball first town, perhaps there's connections amongst the ADs - it seems that St. John's and Georgetown are taking the lead with a lot of these early realignment discussions.

It was also reported that Gtown coach JT3 is a big supporter for Gonzaga being a future basketball member of the Big East Conference.

He said that, but I wouldn't read anything into it. I'm pretty confident the coaches have zero say in the matter.

His name could be Wooden and I don't think it would matter.

Perhaps in other colleges or university that mighf be the case. But both Father and Son (Thompson) play a major role in the direction of the Basketball program. Thompson the third is a major voice on getting the IAC built sooner rather than later. There no major baketball decision being made admistration wise without the Thompson clan being consulted first. If you don't see that, then you don't really know about G'town basketball.

Having influence at G'Town in basketball matters is one thing, but I'm sure the presidents and ad's at the other C7 schools could care less about JT3.

You're missing his point. If JT3 says something about the conference you better believe he's already said it President DeGioia. While its unclear how all these decisions are being made, it is clear that Georgetown is taking the lead in many areas. Finally most statements (if not all) that come out of Georgetown are calculated. If the decision had already been made Gonzaga didn't work geographically, I really don't see JT3 making statements about wanting them in the league.
