Sunday night marked the end of the July Live Period, but news picked up in Providence as a pair of top 125 power forwards shortened their list of schools and both have included the Friars.
Alex Owens, ESPN’s 95th ranked player in the class of 2015 is a 6’8, 240 pound power forward from Florida. The one-time Central Florida commit is known as a very good rebounder and was just recently publicly linked to Providence. He tweeted on Sunday night that PC, Central Florida and Missouri are now the final three schools he’s considering.
An hour later Providence received more good news, as Brewster Academy power forward Jarred Reuter announced that PC is in his final five, along with Rhode Island, Iowa, South Carolina and Virginia.

The Marquette Golden Eagles have also extended an offer to Class of 2015 point guard Bryant Crawford, whose AAU career ended last weekend. It might be hard for Marquette for get in the run for Crawford, who plays at Gonzaga High School, because he might be making a decision sooner rather than later.

The college process is becoming a task for me, I'm thinking of cutting my list down soon after I sit with my mom and talk about how I would fit in the different systems. The schools that are recruiting me the hardest are Marquette, Florida state, BC, Texas Tech, Arizona state, Providence, Wake Forest, URI, and some others.

From a list of 20-plus offers, Haverford School/Team Final combo guard Levan “Shawn” Alston, Jr. has decided on his final six. And they are: Temple, Virginia Commonwealth, Marquette, Notre Dame, Penn State and Penn.
About Marquette: “Coach [Steve] Wojciechowski’s there now, he was at Duke for a while with Coach K, he coached the USA Olympic team, he has a lot of connections and he’s a great coach. Coaching the USA team with beijing and London, he’s one of the best upcoming coaches in college basketball.”
Alston said he plans on visiting each of the six schools between August and early September, with a decision to come sometime in “mid-to-late-September.”
