My 0.02
You’ve got an AA-type player in Moore. One of the best stretch big guys (another AA-type IMO) in Dixon. A Big Ten experienced guard/wing in Hart. 2 of the better players in the portal last season in Bamba and Burton. You’ve also got other talented guards or wings such as Armstrong, Hausen and Longino. Also a transfer in Ware who came from freaking Kentucky. That’s an absolute BOAT LOAD of talent. And not only do you miss the NCAA tournament (again). You also weren’t really that close and lost in the first round of the NIT—at home—to a VCU team that finished 5th place in the A-10. All of that talent…….wasted. Absolutely wasted. If your team has lots of talent but they’re underachieving, it’s on the coaching. Kyle Neptune has simply not shown he can be a good coach in this league. Even though he’s still working with a lot of Jay Wright recruits. Yes, he’ll get some nice wins every now and then (largely thanks to the talent) like a win over Creighton in Omaha or winning the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament by beating Texas Tech, UNC and Memphis. But they lost to their local counterparts such as Penn, Drexel and St Joes. That had to have really stung.
Neptune will get at least 1 more year and the AD has even said he’s staying. He’ll get another year to prove people like me and other doubters wrong. If he can’t make it back to the NCAA tournament, time to hand him his walking papers
