The Johnnies and Anderson have split. Looks like they are making a run at Pitino.

You only do that if you’ve got Pitino lined up, right?

Just want to jump in pre-emptively to say that we should ignore dumb hypotheticals by idiot Big-12 pundits that are trying to cook up Pitino to Texas Tech.

The though of Rick Pitino at age 70 moving to freakin Lubbock TX is basically impossible. Plus he's said there are 30 or so states that he wouldnt live in, and knowing Pitino i would think Texas is one of them.

PR wise, Johnnies and Big East fans should be confidently trumpeting that you knpw and want Pitino at SJU. Just go all in on enthusiasm, etc.

Just make this happen. If anyone starts yapping about ethics etc just tell them to take a hike.

Do you need a pep talk ?? Youre the effin St John's Red Storm from freakin Jamaica Queens. You're the best team and program currently and historically in the greatest city on the planet. Youre gonna play every game at MSG unless the Rangers are in town, lol.
This Pitino dude was born in your city. You're in the best conference in the nation. Youre in the media capital of the World. *You* guys will decide who ypur non-conference opponents are, ok? You select UCLA and Duke and Kansas and UNC, ok, you dont beg, ok, *they* beg !!

Get this freakin done!! C'mon!! For Louie, Mullin, Sealy, Glass, Berry, Werdann, Billy Singleton, Boo Harvey, Buchanan, Curtis Redding, c'mon baby !!! Lol...

This is the most important BE decision and hire by far in our last 10 years.

Tomorrow i'll do a pep talk for DePaul.

ESPN makes it sound like it's Pitino.

The Red Storm hired Anderson in 2019, weeks after Arkansas parted ways with him. He reached the NCAA tournament three times in his final five seasons with the Razorbacks, but failed to replicate that success in the Big East.

St. John's is expected to turn to Pitino as its top candidate to replace Anderson, sources told ESPN. A New York native, the Hall of Fame head coach has won two regular-season championships and one conference tournament in his three seasons with the Gaels.

Pitino, 70, is considered arguably the best college basketball coach of his generation, and he would be the type of big name needed to ignite a St. John's fanbase that hasn't seen an NCAA tournament win since 2000.

Fired hoops coach Mike Anderson seeks $45.6M from St. John's

Former St. John's men's basketball coach Mike Anderson said he was fired with cause in March only so the school could avoid paying his buyout and use the money to hire Rick Pitino, per arbitration documents obtained by ESPN on Thursday.

Anderson is seeking $45.6 million from the university -- $11.4 million that was left on his contract and an additional $34.2 million for "punitive" damages -- according to the "notice of intention to arbitrate" filed last month by Anderson's lawyer, John Singer of Singer Deutsch.
