These are just rumors as of now, but on the musketeer madness board under "Fox Sports Network", rumors or swirling on Fox willing to help on travel expenses for you guessed it, "gonzaga". I for one would be all for it. Plus most schools would only have travel out west for once a year. I think this would be a great move. Rumor is it they would also want St.Marys. Imagine this,the top of the conference with Georgetown,Marquette, Villanova,Xavier, Butler, Gonzaga. The top 6 in no particular order would rival almost any conference in the nation from 1 thru 6. Add in the other 6 schools St.johns, providence, seton hall, DePaul,creighton and either St. Louis or dayton. This would be huge and to me really would be a no brainier. I would have to say at least the best league in the nation behind acc and big ten. What do you think? Could this be the reason why we haven't heard anything? Maybe throw in Norte dame over dayton or st.louis and your talking super basketball league with big names and huge exposure. Not to mention the recruiting old open up nation wide as recruits would be all over the country. With gonzaga being number one, maybe this really is being tossed around. What do you think???? Very excited one way or the other just think this would be a no brainier!!!!!!!

St. Mary's is getting hit by the NCAA, how is that going to help?

I'd love to have Gonzaga as a basketball only member, but I am confident it is not going to happen. And no way are we taking SMC and their 3500 seat arena and NCAA sanctions. Fun story to pass on as rumors, but no truth in it.

I don't think the concern has ever been money, its been distance and logistics.

I don't think it is an expense issue....it is a time issue. Unless Fox plans on buying them a few private jets to fly their teams around ...that would cut down on time.

Stupid West Virginia is already complaining about travel issue to the Big 12. I guess they don't have maps in WV.

I would be concerened if the conference was relying on Fox to be our sugar daddy too much. What happens then if FS1 goes tits up? I'm sure ESPN would sign us if we were available, but help with Gonzaga's travel? Not sure if I want to be in the Fox pocket that much.

WVU is a good analogy to what could happen if Gonzaga is included. Huggs at WVU is going to find out it's not as much fun to recruit a kid when you have to tell him and his parents the closest conference game is 800 miles away. I look for WVU to continue to nosedive. Same could happen to Gonzaga with travel distance magnified.

If we could get Gonzaga then it's a no brainer - people talk as if they are located on the moon - if the school is keen then you go for it.
