Our Commissioner

Did I miss his or her appointment?

Or has the Big East decided to save some money and simply have lower-paid people specialize in the various aspects of making a top-level Conference work effectively?
A media specialist
A chief of officials (he better be lower-paid if he's no better in that position than he was on the court!)
A person to schedule meetings of the Board of Directors (Reps from each member institution)
A person in charge of Conference Tournaments and league scheduling
A legal specialist
Etc.
Etc.
Etc.

We ten schools are still going to compete together as a Conference, aren't we?

This is starting to get a bit ridiculous. The longer this drags on, the more mid-majorish we start to look.

Is this the case of a school or schools trying to retain control?

Why can't we just vote on candidates and let a simple majority rule? Trying to find unanimous agreement among 10 parties seems pretty unlikely.

Yeah....I think at this point, someone is dragging their feet. Sure, we don't need a commissioner to make Fall schedules (the ADs are doing that) but we need someone to be a figurehead considering we are going to be a conference in 3 weeks. It just gives others a chance to make easy potshots at us. It's time we hire someone now.

it is beyond odd from my corner, some fall schedules are out, others not, no commissioner? It sure looks like a Catholic priest Charlie Foxtrot and no I'm not Gordon Gee rather a rank and file cradle Catholic. Does the scheduling need a commissioner? Not sure but I would expect all conference schedules to be released simultaneously yet it appears Georgetown's soccer schedule is out, Xavier's was released today but Creighton's isn't. Maybe it's a time zone related :o

I don't think conference schedules for all teams are generally released simultaneously. Usually a few days apart for teams is the norm. Maybe Creighton is still solidifying their non-conference slate, who knows....

As much as i think the Presidents really f'd up the start of this league the schedule releases are pretty much on schedule which is no schedule at all. (no pun intended)

The conference soccer schedule is done. The delay in release of individual schools is likely non-conference getting cemented.

In 1980, Dave Gavitt ran the conference in a 12 x 12 office with 1 desk, 2 swivel chairs, 1 phone line, a typewriter and young Mike Tranghese. It's no big deal that the commissioner isn't in place yet. I mean, it's not like we're running the UN or something.

LOL in heart i agree... in reality its not 1980 anymore and the sports landscape has changed drastically. Besides i'd even argue it would be easier to run the UN with 1 desk and 2 swivel chairs than the BE. I mean i hope the BE accomplishes something lol

TV deal is done. MSG is done. Schedules are done or being done. Time to print the T-Shirts. My guess the BE staff of 40 people will be split somehow with some going to the "American" on 7/1. We still got a commissioner until 7/1.
