Big East 7
DePaul - Vincentian
Georgetown - Jesuit
Marquette - Jesuit
Providence - Dominican
Seton Hall - run by local diocese
St. John's - Vincentian
Villanova - Augustinian

Possible Members
Butler - private, non-sectarian (connections to the Disciples of Christ church)
Creighton - Jesuit
Dayton - Marianist
Gonzaga - Jesuit
St. Louis - Jesuit
VCU - public
Xavier - Jesuit

I've seen a variety of message boards assuming the entire BE7 are Jesuit schools. That's far from the truth, as Georgetown and Marquette are the only ones. I thought some people around here might find this informative, if not entirely useful.

It may not mean anything to some people, but it's a very good point.
There's been a lot of misinformed anti-Jesuit vitriol flung about during all of this.
Kind of odd considering the order's educational mission.
Unfortunately with so much information @ one's fingertips, few took a moment to do a simple search on the subject.

Seton Hall is actually under the governance of the Archdiocese of Newark. It is a Metropolitan Province that encompasses the entire state of New Jersey.
SHU is the oldest & largest (including the Law School) Diocesan University in the country.
