EMT is actually spot on with those allegations. Lots of people with close ties to the program have hinted at this for years, and it unfortunately was the impetus for him leaving PC.

No one’s going to touch it in the national media until someone actually comes forward (or even after, if that happens) for risk of losing their access, and will peddle the same recycled JT2 narrative and national profile crap.

I again agree with EMT in that it is BS that PC’s perception takes a massive hit on this just for Ed to cover his tracks and try to keep that squeaky clean, honest, and integrity based persona he plays alive.

You don’t have to believe it- like I said the national media won’t touch it, yet or maybe ever. But this is a very, very real thing and the impetus of the move from people close to the program.

No one wants to be the first to break it. But at least here are two people who have somewhat done so. Cryptic I know, but still.

LOL is this an EMT alt account made solely to defend EMT's smear campaign? Strange first post.

Provide at least one source prior to March 21 about this "well known rumor". Surely it must exist somewhere on Twitter, Friar forums, etc.

Instead you have posted one guy yesterday claiming Georgetown was "well aware of the rumors swirling" (rumors literally started by that guy in that Tweet). Also, if we are to believe Georgetown fans, they never offered Pitino due to morality issues. Suddenly they're totally fine with hiring a guy who needs to move across the country because of ongoing affairs, as opposed to a guy who cheated on his wife 20 years ago and was forgiven by her?

I think Cooley handled this all extremely poorly, but smearing his name like this is far more shameful. Again, do better.

Here's the DC guy in the Tweet. https://www.linkedin.com/in/troy-machir-86313614/

Don't know him but seems legit and tweeted that under his name, so I assume he stands by his statement.

There are a few Friar fans on here, one is a moderator. I'm not sure if he posts on either of the bigger Friar boards but here are a couple of threads for you.

Richard Coren has run ScoutFriars since 1999. Not only was he one of Buddy's links above, but he will also typically lock down threads if they get libelous. This one is still open https://247sports.com/college/providence/board/102629/Contents/why-eddy-left-207024275/?page=1

Here's another one run by 70 yr old men that went to PC in the '70s. https://friartownhoops.proboards.com/thread/11933/conspiracy-theories-out

BillyJack or any other Friars here...would Coren keep a thread up if there was no truth to it?

Yes, EMT is correct. (EMT-- I'm duda87 at Scoutfriars).

Richard Coren, who runs Scoutfriars, has total credibility. In his latest podcast on his site, he alludes to it at around the 7:20 mark.

It was apparently well-known in the PC athletic circles, and when Ed completely hosed us and urinated on us, a bunch of people broke their silence.

Basically his wife had enough of his sh-t, gave him an ultimatum of divorce or move to DC (where his daughter will stay after graduating this Spring).

He went from hero to zero in about 4 days. Ed has handled this badly on every step.

If Cooley had waited to weigh his options, that's assuming Georgetown job is still there for him, this process only gets delayed which doesn't help Providence quickly make its own hire and rebuild.

I've always thought the NCAA should implement a dead period for coaching hires and the start of the portal season. It'd at least curb the number of distracted coaches like what probably happened to Cooley the past few weeks.

I don't believe infidelity gossip belongs on this board. It's crazy to think that at least one major news outlet wouldn't run with this story if there was any truth to this.

I would generally agree with you but when the narrative with the national press is that Cooley outgrew PC and PC reached its ceiling when it is all bs, the truth has to come out.

PC had arguably their best class coming in next year to complement Hopkins and Carter. They were headed to Top 10 preseason with a big man add in the portal. Cooley for health reasons is only expected to coach 5ish more years and then do TV (where he will kill it.) And we are supposed to believe that his best chance to win a national championship is at GT now?

How many major news outlets had Tiger Woods infidelity before he crashed his SUV?

I can imagine Nike and Buick working tirelessly protecting Tiger Woods' reputation.
