Wow that might be the most elitist bs i've ever seen. So your telling me that Fox is paying for the top of the C7 and the rest of us peons are just lucky to be there? i'm just shocked. Just who of the almighty C7 do you think we owe this 400 million dollar blessing to?

Seriously its delusional to think that any "top" of the C7 let alone the C7 in its entirety is worth 400 million. I don't know what school you root for, or what schools you think are so superior to the others. But your comments are flat out insulting and i hope either a horrible wording on your part or not indicative of your schools fan base.

Edrick, I'm sorry its late and i'm battling the flu. I just don't think you know how inflammatory your post was.

Here. First there is no reason that with a 12 team conference any conference game will be on a fox regional. Fox will have 2 national programming channels it needs to fill. with 12 teams you get 6 games a weekend... easily scheduled on Fox 1 and 2 alone. Heck you could have a 16 team conference and still get all the weekend and most of the weekday games in. Yes, in the OCC some of the buy games may end up on the regionals but thats not what this is all about.

Second.. Sponsors are great, advertisement still brings in big money. However it is no longer the source of all revenue markets are. In fact cable stations/ sports stations specifically make most of their money on people who never watch them.

See the following articles... http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2011-art ... annel.html and http://articles.latimes.com/1997/aug/29 ... s/fi-26892

There are literally hundreds of articles out there that show how this is done. Fox needs markets the more the better to "force" its new stations upon the general public. These stations will have higher premiums. No one outside of the core BE regions is going to pay a dollar a month more just to watch 2 teams you consider the top play, because they don't care. Now by adding these other lesser programs into your almighty conference Fox now gains its leverage, because people actually will want to watch them. Once you get enough people who want to watch them you force everyone in the region to pay. If you don't get enough people to watch them that is when you get black outs... These black outs can happen anywhere even in big markets see... http://abcnews.go.com/Business/story?id=89154&page=1

Fox wants to avoid these and by having teams in multiple markets helps.

Third... sponsors pay by game. 9 teams have less games therefore less sponsorship. your top teams only play x amount a games a year. sponsors want more slots. Even if your theory of the "top" of the league being the only thing sponsors are interested in, it would still fall apart as there is a finite number of games these top teams will play.

Do you really think Fox would be putting up this much money if it didn't know what schools it was getting? I mean i know the internet rumors are great but lets look at this practically. We are talking 9 figures. The neither the C7 or Fox would have taken this risk if they hadn't decided the most important part of your conference (ummm... who is in it?)

Heck i'm not saying SLU Rich Dayton or X or B are in for that matter as far as i know the c7 are bringing in duquesne and the university of south Guam. But you don't do that last. Its not media deal first, teams last its the other way around. Just because you and i don't know and the internet rumor mill doesn't know doesn't mean they haven't decided. No one really cares if you or i know. if anything it benefits them to keep us in the dark. Jesus, their not going to negotiate leaving the BE sign contracts worth 100s of millions of dollars and then go now who do we invite.

I do. Fox wants 12 and they will get 12. Do you really think the value of the contract would change much if it was St. Louis and Dayton, or Dayton and Richmond, or St. Louis and Richmond? Fox knows all of the teams they are deciding between and are fine with any of them.

A source has informed me that Creighton will be joining the Big East in 2013. Trying to get confirmation although I expect that will be all but impossible until an announcement is made.

It wasn't meant to be inflammatory. It is true though.

The 9, in business-world terms, is all your patents and manufacturing equipment. The office furniture isn't worthless and is absolutely vital to the company, but it's not what is winning you government contracts. We are all equals to each other (why we are sharing equally in proceeds). We are NOT all equals to third parties (TV, etc). This is just real life. There's nothing disrespectful intended.

I believe this. Creighton is definitely getting in and with no exit fee that is less upfront money that the league/Fox will have to pay. Plus it gives a true round robin with no one off on the weekends.
