I've got opinions:
Alex Karaban and Kam Jones didn't finish in the top 5 of any major statistical category in the Big East, and were appropriately left out in my opinion. Every other player mentioned was top 5 in a major stat category except Eric Dixon (who I would argue didn't even deserve 2nd team).
UConn fans can not complain about Karaban because Cam Spencer didn't deserve first team. Trey Alexander had more points, assists, and rebounds per game and were about even on steals. Alexander was statistically the 4th best player in the conference. Chalk that one up to Cam Spencer being on a team that won more games. I wouldn't have put Spencer on 2nd team either. I mean the top scorer in the conference didn't make first or second team... I feel like no matter where you finished in the conference there is something weird about that.
The biggest snub of all which nobody mentioned yet is Joel Soriano, who didn't even get honorable mention. He was top 5 in both rebounds and blocks, and averaged more points than Donovan Clingan. He probably deserved 2nd team, but they were only going to give All Big-East 2nd team to one player from SJU I guess.
I'm cool with Kalkbrenner being 2nd team, but he should be DPOY again with 3 blocks per game. ClingKong and Devin Carter are right behind him.
Carter is the best all around player. But based on how this goes, and how favoritism goes to teams at the top of the conference, it probably goes to Scheierman, who was statistically the best player on the top 3 teams.
