Well B1G fans aren't the most forward thinking bunch and hate change. This is a good move seeing as how the area they control has a rapidly declining population while those two areas are densely populated and full of B1G alum.
"Rapidly declining" is a bit of an exaggeration. I'm not familiar with most of the Midwestern states, but Wisconsin grew by 6% over the last decade. Is it growing as quickly as some states? No. But we certainly aren't "rapidly declining".
