OOC Performance. How will it effect Selection Sunday?

Postby Xuperman » Thu Nov 24, 2022 1:03 pm

The Big East sits at 42-16 overall to start Turkey Day '22. Creighton has been the only team to get any big time scalps to this point, so the PK games in the next 3 days will be highly significant.

Barring a major positive shift in the W/L% for the remaining OOC, I fear the At Large resumes for our top 5-6 teams will not be strong enough to warrant the 5-6 bids we are used to.

That said, IF things continue to be mediocre, I think there needs to be less of the usual conference bloodbath and more of a clear separation between the top 5-6 and the lower 5-6.

In other words, hopefully teams like BU, MU DU don't string together multiple upsets and let's say PC, SHU or SJU ends up drastically underperforming.

Without a very strong finish OOC....a group of teams bunched up around 10 conference wins will equal far too many NIT invites for the BEast, IMO.

How do y'all see it?

Unfortunately I do not expect 5-6 bids this year. Feels like 3-4 this year.

This next week will determine if it will be 3-4 or 4-5 bids imo. I think 6-7 is probably out of the question now.

Any and all 20 win Big East teams will certainly have a good shot....21+ win teams are a solid yes.

If not, the conference is heading in the wrong direction as far as National optics and the "P6" narrative takes a hit. 21+ win teams that don't go dancing come from Leagues like the American or the A10.

Well right now I think you have to add St John’s, Nova and Seton Hall If you’re going to put X in with CU and UCONN, look at Kenpom:

32 Xavier
33 Seton Hall
34 Villanova
35 St. John's

Not sure how you can say we don’t have 6 in at this point.

If you look at all the other leagues as a whole, we are doing just as good or better than everyone but the Big 10. I think we are looking at five right now but it’s really way to early.

In Massey we’re at 4 ever so slightly behind SEC, and ahead of ACC and PAC… just about the same as every year

Agree we are about normal for this point in the season, even with Nova & X tanking. 5-6 bids.
We'd have to go t_ts up and lose all 24 remaining games, in order to see/be a 3-4 league.

C'mon Nova & Xavier...Let's go!
Xav vs Zags is huge. Let's go Muskies!!
