Uhhh looks like the AAC control both now Facebook and Twitter accounts now - so we'll have to start from scratch (will probably give us the @handle, but not the followers).

Aughnanure didn't say otherwise. The (conference which will later be called the) AAC does control the Big East 'stuff' and is using it to promote the AAC. Aughnanure's guess is in all likelihood correct, they will keep the pages and reposition (name/domain/whatever) them as needed. The (conference which will later be called the) Big East will probably just get the address, not sure why they would keep them if it has been an amicable split.
