Best College Hoops Job in Every State (ESPN)

Not sure if everyone already saw this but here's the link...several Big East teams on there and ESPN referred to us as "pound for pound arguably the best conference in the nation" or something to that effect. What ticks me off is how Syracuse is on there and they are closer to Canada than NYC...there really should be two states...New York (5 boros, Westchester, and LI) and North New York (anything above Westchester). You might as well be talking about two different countries. Very different culturally, demographically, etc. St. John's would have been there if Syracuse wasn't.

Either way, nice to see other Big East teams on there.

You realize NY isn't the only state with a city that's completely different than the rest of the state right? Do you think downstate Illinois is anything like Chicagoland? Or the rest of Wisconsin is like Madison and Milwaukee? Country reps in Wisconsin and Illinois once tried to lobby for The stretch from Milwaukee to Chicago to become its own state they hate it so much. New Yorkers think they're the only ones who run into this problem.

Back to the basketball portion, Myron medcalf hates MUso it's not surprising. Everything he states about the badgers could be said and more for MU.

Was not implying NY is the only state this is the case for but my point remains. If it weren't for Syracuse, we would be the only major program in the entire state and clearly would have made this list, helping perception. It was refreshing to see ESPN refer to us as arguably the pound for pound king of basketball conferences in the nation. Paging Stever

I wouldn't be too offended by this. It's not discussing which job is the most desirable in each state, it's discussing which current coach has the best gig. Look at NJ for example. They're not trying to argue that a coach would choose the Monmouth job over the Seton Hall job. They're saying King Rice is in a better spot than Kevin Willard atm because Willard nearly got fired 2 years ago while Monmouth's past 2 years pretty much guaranteed King Rice a job for life if he wants it.

As far as NY, a coach looking for a job would have a lot of reasons to pick SJ over Cuse right now - better location, having much easier/faster access to some of the nation's top recruits, and perhaps most importantly - not having impossible shoes to fill. That said, Boeheim currently has a much better gig than Mullin. Mullin is unproven with a lot of people asking questions of him and may not have much job security if he has another losing season. Boeheim is a legend both on campus and in the city. The man can do absolutely no wrong as far as SU fans are concerned and hasn't had to pay for a beer in Syracuse, NY in years
