IF TRUE, Georgetown has immediately vaulted to the VERY top my go f#ck yourselves/top rival/sh#tlist.
There is NO defending this if true, and Gtown fans should not try to justify something so eggregiously slimy and underhanded. Just reverse the roles and see how you would feel.
Chris Mack just turned down an offer that would have doubled if not tripled his yearly salary from Xavier. He made the right decision too.
Georgetown is no longer a desirable job to any coach that already has a pretty decent gig. Chris Mack has a way better job at Xavier than the job at Georgetown would have been for him. Sure money is a nice thing but there comes a time when even the money can’t cover up the problem. Xavier, while it pays less is a better program at this moment and Mack is going to ride that momentum. He has good recruiting classes, he has great facilities and he has a university that is backing him 100%. Georgetown is a toxic situation with a team that isn’t as good as the rest of the Big East with no turnaround in sight.
Three coaches have no publicly turned down the Hoyas job. That’s a slap in the face to Georgetown who still view themselves as a blue blood program. Unfortunately for them you can only live off the past for so long.

After that, they went to the Mack/Holtmann/Miller grouping. Mack and Holtmann were still in the process of making runs in the tournament, where Miller lost his first and only game. Miller was a good hire, no doubt, but it's clear that he wasn't their top choice.

Crean and Georgetown not a fit? Tom Crean says his firing from Indiana hasn't sunk in yet and doesn't think Georgetown has interest in offering him its head coach job.
One source said that the Hall-of-Famer has already been interviewed multiple times by Georgetown and was continuing to gather more information about being a college head coach in the Big East. A separate source said that Ewing would be the choice of John Thompson Jr.

The question is whether he can coach at this level. I obviously don't know that answer, but it would be a gamble for Georgetown! An associate head coach in the pros doesn't always translate well to college. A different skill set is needed for a mostly different level of players.
