This commment is idiotic. Literally any team could say "we should be much higher but for that mediocre period". St Johns is where they are and that's where they should be because that's what happened.

What penalizes St John's is the fact that they ignored the first 11 years of national competition, a decade in which BE schools like St John's and DePaul excelled.
This is clearly a publicity stunt by the AP to try to get more attention at a time when people don't pay much attention to the AP poll any more. To ignore more than a decade of the early years of national competition is absurd when declaring an "ALL TIME" Top 100. To compound the error, they then ignore the postseason results. For them, it's as though those games were never played. Utterly ridiculous.

Not true. The AP did a flawed analysis. St John's would be higher if they did a proper job.

If they tried to pass it off as having merit before they started ranking I would agree but they aren't. They say when it started and that this ranked those 68yrs. They aren't retroactively making rankings or claiming that these 68yrs has any baring over those years prior to their start.
Because it is just an analysis of just the AP poll over the length of time it has been around it cannot be flawed.
