We have sold out the Garden the past two seasons, and had strong attendance there the previous two. We have had every single program make the NCAA Tournament except one (nine out of ten). We have had a national champion.
The Big East is absolutely fine and is still one of the top five basketball conferences in the country. Villanova losing was disheartening, but they had a great season and are the class of the league. Xavier, Butler and Creighton have developed into the backbone of the conference; they are dependable, strong and very much needed to ensure the conference remains among the elite. Marquette and Georgetown have been inconsistent since the reorganization, but are trending upwards. Seton Hall and Providence have absolutely benefited from the reorganization, and their programs have been elevated since the conference became smaller at 10 programs. St. Johns is rebuilding, but they have been recruiting very well under Mullin. DePaul is, well DePaul.
I'm rooting hard for Butler and Xavier because they are excellent basketball programs and represent our conference well. Advocating for the Big East to add new schools because Villanova lost is a slap in the face to Villanova and, especially, Butler and Xavier. We still have two strong programs able to make deep runs in the tournament. Believing that adding a school that doesn't fit the profile of the league (VCU) will make everything better is just shortsighted and emotional.
I truly believe that Dayton and Saint Louis will be added to the Big East sometime down the road - but that point isn't today, nor will it be this year. Let's just try and support our two great programs still playing this week. Go Xavier! Go Butler! Go BIG EAST!

Add Dayton (because we all need that annoying little brother), St Louis (so DePaul isn't the bottom team anymore), and Davidson (because f--- the ACC). Keep it private.
I'd go with a different 3. VCU, Dayton and SLU.
I've gone on record saying adding a great mid-major program wouldn't dilute the Big East "Brand" at all, but adding 3 simultaneously may do just that. We had no choice but to add 3 with X, Creighton, and Butler, but there's no reason to do so at the moment.

Its not like its an unrelated topic. The conference performance in March is necessitating this.

Not sure why WSU takes the priority over VCU, which has the added benefits of being a system school and bringing big crowds to the MSG.

Sounds like VCU coach might be heading to LSU.
