in 2 of those 3 years, they finished tied for 5th.

Also- look at last 5 years of them in the Big East.
2013- tied for 7th
2012- tied for 9th
2011- tied for 9th
2010- tied for 11th
2009- tied for 2nd

whether you like it or not- teams aren't measured on the regular season. They are measured on what they do in the post season.

Now, I think there are questions about Ollie. This year with all the injuries and 7 losses by 5 points or less- they get a bit of a pass. But next year, it's really going to be now or never for them.

I would gladly take cuse back as they fit the regional and private profile. I might be able to be convinced on uconn because of their bball success although I really like the all private school group. Bc and Pitt can rot for their high crimes and treason against the conference. Bc for starting it all and Pitt for backstabbbing nova.

Are any of these school relevant in 20 years?

UConn has to see if they can succeed in the AAC in a post Calhoun era.

It's been 5 years since Calhoun retired. How long does it take to see if they can be successful without him? One down year with a bunch of injuries means we're now questioning the entire program? Seriously?

Go over to the Boneyard where there are multiple threads looking for Ollie's head on a platter and see if they are happy. They expected to be dominating the AAC and getting top seeds in the NCAAs. They consider themselves in the same class as Duke/UNC/Kansas. Would those schools accept these recent results?

While, for nostalgic reasons, it would be cool to somehow get Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Boston College and UConn back into the Big East, that ship has sailed. It is more likely that that group one day forms the core of a new Northeastern-centered Football conference, with Penn State, Rutgers, Maryland, Army, Navy and West Virginia, than them ever coming back to the Big East.

Our conference is now Private/Catholic, non-football, in big East-Coast/Midwest cities and elite college basketball programs. Our model works. No need to adjust our vision to accommodate schools that made the decision to chase FBS football.

I've always been curious, why didn't Notre Dame stay in the Big East and join their fellow Catholic universities? I know they have football, but their football team doesn't count in ACC standings. Their football team would have been able to keep those long standing rivalries instead of being forced to play ACC competition. I assume the ACC offered more money?

As much as we hate BC and Pitt, I was surprised to see UCONN started playing BC again in football last year. I don't know if the animosity's gone down lately, but I feel bad for UConn having to swallow whatever pride it had left.

Can't say I blame them for leaving when it looked like the conference was falling apart.

I think it came down to getting their Olympic sports in a major conference for those sports had a factor as well as an ease in football scheduling.
