Nice win Marquette, absolutely a horrible job by Nova attacking the 1-3-1 zone in the final 6 minutes. 6-34 from 3 pt land for the Wildcats on the night, that's the game right there.

Jenkins 0-6. Brunson 0-5. I hope Jenkins is saving for tournament run. Feels like he has not shot the ball well all season. Nova had open looks from 3 all night long. that's all you can ask for really. With terrible shooting from 3 they still had 15 pt lead mid way thru 2nd and MU looked done.

Lot of credit to MU for fighting back. scored 50 in the half. and all of them earned against tough nova defense.

Embarrassing!

With all due respect, Nova has NOTHING to be embarrassed about.

Hey, fellas. I copied my below post from the MU board, but I wanted to share with all of you. It is an honor to post here, and tonight was more special to me than any other MU game in my life. Best of luck to Villanova the rest of the way - they are absolutely a class act.

From MU Board:
Tonight was truly a special game for me and my family. My mom passed away on Sunday night - gone way too soon. While she hated sports (even though I work in sports), she always loved Marquette for the experiences I had there and for the close friends I made while there. I'll never forget the 30 extra minutes I had as a freshmen unable to leave the car outside Abbottsford because my mom didn't want to let me go haha. Whenever Marquette was on, whether as a student or a graduate, she watched because of me.

Tonight being the very first game since her passing was especially tough. However, I couldn't help but think that she provided some divine intervention in the game tonight. There were certain plays that just seemed to bounce our way, unexplained and unexpectedly, and I truly believe my Mom was the biggest fan in the stands in heaven for all of us tonight.

Basketball is so much bigger than just basketball, but it allows us all to heal in our own particular ways. Tonight was incredibly special (I got to watch it with my Dad too), and I felt like I needed to share this with all of you because we are all so passionate about Marquette and the basketball program. Tonight was emotional on so many levels, but I will always treasure tonight's game as it being the first moment of my mom in heaven telling me that she is looking out for me and my family.

P.S. sorry for the emotional post. Be sure to tell your parents you love them as often as you can. You never know when the last time may be.

Go Marquette!

Not quite. Butler is still .5 games back of Nova. Gotta beat Seton Hall first.

Thank you for sharing those words with us!

I hope your mother is resting in a better place and that she continues to watch over you and the rest of your family. We all definitely have our way of healing and I'm glad that tonight was able to provide you with some joy in times of need

Best of luck to you, your family and to Marquette! We'll be watching!

and thank you for that p.s. I try to do that every moment I get the chance. Parents are indeed so special

Why I added the comment at the end in parenthesis...

If 2 others in the top 4 didn't lose last night it would be a real setback for Nova, but since they did it's a blip on the radar... Beat the crap out of Virginia. (Both for the conference, to get right back into the number one seed, and because they sent BU home last year.)

Getting court storm'd is getting old.

I don't see it that way. For Nova fans, it obviously stinks to lose a game that you controlled (just like CU at GU last year), but it does happen. Nova will learn from it and be better going forward. You're still going to be a top 3 team in the country, so no big deal.

However, MU hoops has been down since the conference was reinvented, and they just got their second Top 10 win in a row, this time by beating #1. Nova has been and is the flag bearer for the BEast, and for programs that have been well below where they expect to be, beating Nova is not just another win. It's huge. And the court-stormers are 18-22 year old kids. Let them enjoy it.

A few of the court-stormers were no where near 18-22 year olds. Maybe if you add 18 and 22.

Great win for Marquette. You win like that you deserve a good court-storm.
