I don't think expansion is on the horizon, but if it were I think it would have to do with getting people to MSG for the conference tournament if attendance ever slipped. As long as the Big East keeps MSG full, I don't see expansion happening.

Yes, the Garden is an issue, but so are TV ratings. At the time that the C7 split, it was reported that Fox favored a 12 team conference with Gonzaga specifically. If they ever press that issue, the Big East would be under a lot of pressure to expand since Fox pays the bills.
