Why are we not talking about Duquesne? Yea they suck now but they have potential and pretty much fit all the other categories that make up the Big East. Pittsburgh which is Eastern-ish enough.

I don't think expansion is on the horizon, but if it were I think it would have to do with getting people to MSG for the conference tournament if attendance ever slipped. As long as the Big East keeps MSG full, I don't see expansion happening.

RPI Forecast - Duquesne

It’s been 40 years since Duquesne’s last NCAA Tournament appearance. The Dukes are averaging 1185 fans per home game this season.

The last time that Duquesne won an NCAA Tournament game, the Pirates were still playing in Forbes Field.

Yes, the Garden is an issue, but so are TV ratings. At the time that the C7 split, it was reported that Fox favored a 12 team conference with Gonzaga specifically. If they ever press that issue, the Big East would be under a lot of pressure to expand since Fox pays the bills.

The Dukes would be great if they could ever get their house in order and actually cared about their program. I really thought we were going to see a number of teams step up to try and gain access to the new basketball power conference. It seems very few have. Duquesne would be a perfect geographical fit since Pittsburgh is a good connection between the east and mid-west.

BUT they stink and have shown no sign of caring at all. I'd take Siena over them in a heartbeat.

There are no other equally great programs closer than Gonzaga. None.

All things considering size of the market, facilities, etc?
