Frankly, who gives a crap?! Let Georgetown fans be concerned what happens with JT3. I've never understood other fans being concerned or harping about another team's coach getting fired. Maybe, that's just me.

Wow, Cartwright was 1 rebound away from a triple-double.
Lindsey was fantastic.
Balanced attack with everyone contributing.
Really nice win for the Friars.

X @ Heart wrote:IMO. Xavier has played like crap there last two games. Creighton and Butler should be lucky we missed so many free throws, because if not for those, we win @Butler and today against Creighton. Also, Gaston is horrible offensively. I know he rebounds but damn. I feel like my 12 year old son can catch a basketball better than him. This is the worst collection of bigs I can recall at X. Plenty of time to get it together, but damn, we should only have two losses. Butler,Creighton and Colorado we just gave it away.

U could also say X got lucky that our best player didn't play most of the game.

and that the refs gave you 17 more free throws than us, and Justin Patton was on the bench with foul trouble, as well as Tazz, and you had home court advantage...

soooooo lucky

Overall, this "you got lucky" back-and-forth is nonsense, but since you brought up the free throw disparity:

Creighton's offense is literally one of the worst in the country at getting to the charity stripe (#341 in FTA/FGA). Xavier's offense is one of the better ones in the country at getting to the line (#34). Add to that a lot of ticky-tack foul calls by the refs and yeah, you're probably going to have a pretty wide FT disparity. In fact, if Xavier didn't have a notable edge in FT attempts with that many foul calls, then that would be really odd.

For the Big East's long term health and prestige we need a good Georgetown program. When we broke off from the football schools we expected Nova and G'Town to compete for the top 2 spots consistently. Nova more than held up their end. G'Town on the other hand has been awful. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see SJ replace them as an upper-tier power in the Big East eventually, but G'Town is a national program with a known brand. Something is very, very off over there in DC.

Nonsense! Are you suicidal?! They are like soo young man give them a chance! I kid of course but if you were a SJ fan that's what you'd be hearing. I agree SH is much better than this.

Well it's a little (a lot) different because they're not so young. This is a coach in his 7th year returning all but 2 players from a Big East Championship team. However, that's the only thing he's accomplished in those 7 years and as much as I want to believe last year was a turning point, it's increasingly looking like he just rode an NBA player to success. Now realistically, he's going nowhere because that Big East Title bought him at least another 5-10 years. In my opinion though, if he manages to miss the tournament with this team I don't see any reasonable argument to keep him. Especially if they quit on him as they seemed to last night. At least Mullin can get his freshman to play hard every night.

Things could be much worse at Seton Hall. In fact, they have been. Be careful what you wish for.

Xavier's problem is lack of quality wins. Top two wins are current bottom feeders in the ACC, Clemson, right now on the right side of the bubble, and Wake Forest, a team likely to not make the NCAA as they are 1-7 against top 100. Georgetown is coming to town, so an easy W is in the offing, although it won't help the resume.

Define "quality wins"

They've got 5 wins against the top 100 and 2 against the top 50. What they're lacking is wins against the top 25. They still have opportunities to pick some of those up. When it comes to tournament seedlings they'll be compared with what other teams have done. Here's some of the competition who are also lacking wins against the top 25 at this point in the season:

Arizona
Florida
Iowa State
St Mary's

Here are more who have only one win against the top 25:

Duke
Kentucky
Virginia
Wisconsin
Oregon
Cincinnati
UCLA
Norte Dame

I thought that Xavier outplayed Creighton. If they make their FTs, they win the game. Creighton dodged a bullet. Davis showed a lot of energy. The longer he's around, the better that team will get.
