That was a big road win for the Jays, especially after losing Mo Watson early in the game. Creighton's bench definitely kept them in this game, some really decent "fill-in" performances by Hegner (!), Harrell Jr., Zierden and Krampelj. Zierden will likely be running the point if Watson is out for extended time, and good thing he has started the last two seasons to give the Jays some needed experience at a now thin position.

Strange game overall, it is sad that the refs took the game out of both teams players' hands. Hopefully X can rebound quickly from this tough three-game stretch.

If that's where you thought the game was lost you are crazy. Easy layups and free throw shooting is where you need to look.

The call was b/s.

Thank Xavier for its prowess at the "charity" stripe.

Welp. This team is not very good. They have potential, but potential doesn't equal wins. Congrats Creighton.

Free throw shooting holding back a team with a lot of skill. The funny thing is it's pretty much working out how I expected coming into conference play after the non conference but it sucks the losses are piling up.

Agree that reffing was terribly inconsistent. However, that hasn't been the 'norm' from what I've seen of Jays games this year. There were almost no fouls or free throws shot in the CU-Nova game until the end. They let them play, but I never felt like it was a hackfest that was allowed to go unchecked. Obviously, today in Cincy was different. If a Jay exhaled in the general vicinity of an X player, the whistle blew. Glad X didn't shoot FT well. I think X missed more FT than the Jays took. If they shoot anywhere near their season FT average today, they win.

And while it was ugly, I guess CU can win a big game on the road and away from the CLink (since that has been at issue on this board). Now 18-1. Without their point guard or their 7 footer for most of the game. Patton played poorly--made stupid fouls, and most of the Jays were in foul trouble the entire second half, and yet they gutted it out. Team win. Tremendous accomplishment.

X still strikes me as a team that can make a run in the tourney. With Davis just back and Sumner starting/not starting, the chemistry isn't quite there yet, but there is a ton of talent, and there are still a dozen or so games to get it all figured out. I think they will reach the lofty expectations we all had for them from early in the season.

I know. It sort of showed the pressure Mack and X might be feeling though. The fouls clearly favored XU so it was strange to see Mack get t'd up when he had the refs benefit him all game to that point.

Xavier got back in the game after the T they were heading towards a double digit L before that. The real question is how McDermott didn't get one walking to the Xavier free throw line to argue with the ref.

Xavier better right the ship before it goes into that other cincy-school's arena....

Right now they are falling quickly after playing the B.E top three

Sadly they may not even be ranked for the Shootout. That would suck

Can't believe we won that game without Watson for the whole second half. Supposedly no ligament tear, possible meniscus which is a much better prognosis....
