Muddled is delusional and link happy. I think he's also been banned from a couple message boards, including a UD board if I recall correctly, which you would think would be hard to do.

I presume gtmo is simply an ardent Jays fan who doesn't realize he's in a conversation with a challenged individual, who otherwise managed to have a positive experience in Dayton (i.e. anything is possible).

How about some love from Andy Katz - ESPN Senior Writer:

"Can't say it enough: Big East hit a home run with additions of Butler, Xavier and Creighton. Winners. Atmosphere."

It's not that we're fine at 10. It's that we're optimal at 10.

Also banned from the A10 board.

Big East may be optimal at 10 from the competitive standpoint (if you have the reigning national champs and 4 teams in the top 25 out of 10 total that pretty good) but the networks might want a couple of more teams for inventory or for better ratings. If not, this whole thread is a waste of time regardless. When the media rights deal is back up for negotiation, we'll see what the priorities are.

Hey Dash- so fill in the gap for me on this Muddy (presumably aka Fieldhouse Flyer?). Granted I can see him being a little over the top at times promoting UD (and maybe I'm not far behind- though confine myself to this single thread) but I don't recall him ever making things up, being negative to the BE, nor harassing... Frankly I think I've seen more of this from X fans toward UD.

... and by the way it was not only a homer but a "grand slam".

As I have posted previously, I agree:

Many of you may not be aware of the information posted above (or its significance), but Fox Sports and ESPN certainly are.

In any event, Xavier, Butler, and Creighton were all very deserving candidates at the time that the presidents of the Catholic 7 schools chose them for expansion, and all three schools remain a big part of the Big East's very considerable success.

Muddy is a die-hard UD fan whose incessant trolling has earned him multiple bans on A-10 forums. That being said, he really isn't that bad nowadays. I think UD's recent success has allowed him to just enjoy it rather than argue forever about why UD is the best ever.

Now I'm beginning to believe that you have an agenda as well, if this is your response to all this.

A little over the top? Muddled is drivel central.

Who in their right mind would think that it is appropriate to list out alumni chapters of a school that isn't a member of this conference on this message board? Nobody here gives a shit about UD's alumni chapters, especially considering that every member of the Big East has their own national alumni chapter network.

UD has more fans than X simply because it has a bigger enrollment? He states that as a fact, based on citing enrollment data. Xavier has a national presence in basketball and a much greater basketball pedigree than UD. UD cannot begin to compete with the exposure Fox brings to Big East schools. Cincinnati obviously is much bigger than Dayton. Who knows what casual fan support looks like, but I have to believe that Xavier is better positioned in this regard than UD.

UD is a mid-major that competes in a watered down A10 conference. I don't follow you anymore, but I thought you were supposed to have one of your better teams last year when we blew you off the floor by 31 points. I don't know how much longer Archie wants to deal with having to recruit at the A10 level, but he is a Miller and I suspect that clock is ticking with him. Time will tell, but it favors UD losing Archie sooner than later.

Do you honestly believe UD has an ice cube's chance in hell of making it into the BE, given its proximity to Xavier, its less than stellar media market appeal and its current resume? Can things change? Sure. But I doubt certain things will change.

Moreover, in the grand pecking order of things, UD isn't exactly at the top of any desired list the BE leadership may be keeping for expansion. And that kind of makes the volume of UD fan postings here - shall we call it excessive.

Dash, Annoying and over the top yes- I just didn't see anything he's done here worthy of banishment from several boards. UD fans should act as good guests here. My only agenda is MBB and BE expansion is fun to talk about.

When the TV deal was made, I remember reading about the $500M figure going up if the league expanded, in order to match what each school received from Fox. Up to 12 teams. Is that option no longer on the table? I don't even know if there's anything to be gained from waiting for the next round of football realignments. Like, what's the point of waiting for Wake Forest or TCU to get the ax?

Discussing the merits of VCU has no more pertinence than discussing any random school on the map. They just do not meet the prerequisites.

The "prerequisites" are each person's set of assumptions. And no one knows if they will change.

No, the prerequisites are pretty clear based upon the actions of the C7 university presidents when they selected the 3 teams to add. And there is literally zero reason to believe that they will change in the near future.
