AAC should add Wichita St. and VCU, those would both be great adds.

Can we all just agree that there are really only 4 realistic candidates? UCONN, UD, SLU, VCU? And only one of those would be added for reasons other than their basketball pedigree.

I can't agree to that.

To be a "candidate" in my mind means that a program has to be viable right now.

No way in hell would we add a mid-major at this time, so 3 of you're 4 are off the table. More precisely, they never were on the table for consideration and certainly aren't close to it now.

NO. The only addition would be Connecticut. Everything else is just baggage. The league is too good right now to add mid-major programs. No need

I honestly don't care one way or the other if Dayton or UCONN were added, except that I like the double round robin. I don't want UCONN or VCU because I like having all private schools. However, if any of those three were added, I would likely get on board. On the other hand, if SLU were added, it would demonstrate a paradigm shift in what I think are the Big East's priorities and I would stop being a fan of the Big East and would revert back to cheering solely for my Bulldogs and whomever is playing Indiana.

And the conference isn't getting back in bed with any football schools, which means that all 4 are off the table.

For years, we have discussed who is the "right fit" for Big East expansion. We have talked program prestige, location, institutional fit, TV/alumni market, resources, commitment, facilities, coaches and even academics. To heck with these schools that don't fit like a glove with our current members. Let's move Dayton to Detroit, and give Wichita State's program to Saint Louis. Let's make UConn Catholic. Take away football from Boston College. Finally, we have the perfect expansion schools that fit perfectly under the Big East banner.

Problem solved.

Northeastern beat Michigan State tonight at East Lansing. They already beat UConn this year. Interesting potential candidate right there.

Their last home game was against Kent State and the attendence was 701. That's pretty much average for them.

Northeastern averaged around 1,500 last year.
Boston U is the school with the 400 per game average.
Holy Cross also gets around 1,500 per game.

None of these 3 Mass schools are ready for the Big East, though of these 3, Northeastern would be a little in the lead.
