I think the RPI is fine. What I hate is when the selection committee starts cherry picking "Top 25, Top 50" wins etc.

why though? Sure it stinks if you beat a lot of teams at 27 or 28 or 53 or 54- but if they apply it consistently, what's the problem?

11/29:

1. Creighton
2. Villanova
3. Gonzaga
4. Xavier
5. No. Iowa
6. Baylor
7. Butler
8. Florida
9. South Carolina
10. Clemson
11. North Carolina
12. Providence

I'll always diss RPI, but this is pretty damn amazing.

Not sure which one you're looking at but Warren Nolan's that is always very accurate is different...
1 Xavier
2 Gonzaga
3 Creighton
4 Villanova
5 No. Iowa
6 Baylor
7 Florida
8 Butler
9 South Carolina
10 Clemson

Providence is 29th right now.

I know it means nothing right now but Xavier played or will play 7 of those 12 teams. Mario Merculio does wonders for Xavier's scheduling and truly has to be on the of the best in the country when it comes to that.

I pulled the one off of ESPN.

In the past, the ESPN one hasn't been accurate at all.

We may know come Thursday for sure, as I think the NCAA does reports early in the season on a monthly basis.

http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball ... etball-rpi . . . http://www.udpride.com/images/rpi.htm

Yesterday, the NCAA unwisely published their first official RPI Rankings of the season - and they are very incomplete - as it shows that no Division I teams have played more than 3 games, which is obviously incorrect. For more than a decade, the NCAA has used the UDPride RPI to check their own work, and differences between them have always been attributed to errors made by the NCAA - usually caused by the NCAA's data base showing a game as 'home' or 'away' when the game was actually played on a neutral court according to NCAA criteria.

This morning's UDPride RPI Rankings show 8 private schools in the Top 9, with Florida being the only public school. You don't see that very often.

Congratulations again to the Big East, who hold 4 of the Top 8 places this morning.

I should note that the Warren Nolan RPI ratings match exactly what he's posting.
