Are you not aware that the By-Laws of the P5 conferences do not contain provisions for the involuntary expulsion of a member school?

Why would BC, Wake, or Vandy (or any other school) voluntarily leave a P5 conference (and the guaranteed $20,000,000+ per year) to join the Big East?

I am fully aware of that. And they wouldn't. That isn't the scenario here.

If you don't understand that contracts can be renegotiated or even terminated under extreme circumstances of chang, then I can't help you.

Who knows what will happen, but of programs like Ohio State and Alabama and Texas wake up one day and decide the programs like wake forest and Boston College, etc. are not worth it, then they may take this thing to a 4 x 12 model. They may decide to take it to a 4 x 16 model, wherein those schools would probably just be safe, obviously except for one of them.

Either way, things probably will settle down at least until 2023, unless Texas and Oklahoma, in particular, get uppity.

The problem is there would be no mechanism to do that. Not with all the Grants of rights, etc. They might want to get rid of those other schools- but just have no way of doing so. IF they tried, it would be tied up in the courts for years.

And anyways- the programs that would be dropped would be your ones like Wake, BC, Vandy, Northwestern, Iowa St, etc. Not your ones like Duke.

I started another thread about the money because I keep seeing posts like this. UCONN proves that without the $20-$30 mil a year from football 5 TV contracts they LOSE that same amount on football. I'm pretty sick of articles and posters implying that the other BASKETBALL teams in the football 5 get $20 mil compared to our $4 mil. In reality they get less than $4 mill for their basketball program because all the TV money goes back into the high COSTS of football. It's ridiculous how there isn't ONE SINGLE fair assessment of what the basketball programs get. (And yes, we all know Dayton is doing great financially with your arena money and NCAA units and all so please don't deflect the question to the Flyers, that's besides my point.)

I agree that a bad football program in the F5 would never ever leave, they can't do that to their fans and alumni and never would, I'm just saying that money-wise they'd be prolly making the same or more by ditching football and moving to the Big East.

I guess they can't afford nice mics in the "American."

The Big 12 decided to take 10 million dollars TOTAL not to expand. Unbelievable.

ESPN will pay Big 12 $10m total over remainder of agreement to remove pro rata clause. Fox will not increase pay - will keep its pro rata.

Yeah, what an indictment of the expansion candidates that the Big XII teams would rather have 100000 a year more than expand.

AAC still uses the old Big East headquarters in Providence. Actually very nice offices. But yea, the taped mic's were a joke. I've seen elementary school events with better technology. We couldn't have come out better after the split. Makes you really appreciate having our media day on the floor of MSG. And, you know, having real mic's and not looking like a national embarrassment.

SLU just picked up a 4 star (rated #41) recruit in their 2018 class. Dayton has to be rooting for SLU because they would be an ideal partner if expansion does stick to private schools.

Carte'Are Gordon - ESPN actually has him as a 5 star #9 rated recruit in the class of 2018.

Either way, Travis Ford is really making waves in recruiting for SLU. He has Gordon coming in for 2018 on top of couple 4 star recruits (as rated by ESPN) in Jordan Goodwin and Hasahn French for 2017.

While I have no particular desire to see the Big East expand, St. Louis will certainly command some attention if they keep this up.
