SEC 1

If Seton Hall presumably can avoid one of the next 2 slots- this would become an even better projection. Only 1 of the 5 tourney teams in the 8/9 matchups with 4 others in the top 7 seed lines.

USC checks in at #29, so the BE has four teams in the top 28 and all four are predicted to be 7-seeds or better. Not too shabby.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.

So when is it time to start calling out the SEC on it's pedestrian BB conference. The SEC is UK. Billy Donovan is gone and UF is not the same. The dream of LSU returning to glory never materialized. Alabama? Eh. Tenessee? Missou? Arkansas? Yuck. These once were very respectable programs. Are they expecting guys like Bruce Pearl to stabilize that conference long term? Texas A&M is/was OK but they were a miracle comeback away from being ousted early; UK doesn't get out of the 1st weekend. This year their #2 team is projected to be an 8 seed. So in effect there is no one expecting more than 1 SEC team to get out of the first weekend. We've seen all these great recruits that the league is bringing in and all the stories about how big FB $ is going to affect BB positively. So what's wrong ?

Stever? Maybe divert your glass is half empty approach to the SEC and tell me what you see.

I think with Alabama/Auburn- we've yet to see their recruits really matter yet. Both have top 50 classes coming in this year- and even better for '17.

Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas- totally yuck. and LSU is going to take forever to recover from last year.

It'll be interesting to see a team like Miss St. They have 6 4 star guys coming in this year. Maybe not immediately but that's going to pay off.

I think 1 other thing with the SEC why they've struggled- coaches. Even the good ones haven't been around long yet. This is only Pearl's 3rd year. Avery Johnson at Bama- 2nd year. Kevin White at Florida- 2nd year. Ben Howland at Miss St- 2nd year. Barnes at Tennessee- 2nd year. Only 5 of 14 coaches been there more than 5 years. Callipari is the 2nd longest tenured coach in the conference. Compare that to the Big East for instance- 5 guys who have been there more than 5 years(and Cooley 5 years). Think about it- in the Big East Cooley is the 6th longest tenure right now.

Also, we really haven't seen the full money change impact yet. Remember, this is only year 2 for the SEC network. Let's see how it is 4-5 years from now.
