Blue Ribbon (the bible of college hoops) only has 4 BE teams in their preseason poll? I was expecting the Hall &/or G'twn in also - not Butler. However, the more the merrier, especially in the non-con. Hopefully 4-6 ranked going into Conf. play. Then the real winnowing will begin. Four ranked teams is a good start.

4 is pretty solid though. Seton Hall I think folks have big questions about them with regards to how they are w/o Whitehead. And a lot of questions obviously with Georgetown.

I think you're going to see a lot of the preseason polls with only 3 BE teams. Nova, Xavier, and Creighton. Butler with all their questions will be tough to see them rated...

I do think it's interesting in Blue Ribbon- only having Xavier down at 12.

It's not how you start- rather how ya finish. :)

We're not getting much love after the tragic death of our Center Big Steve.

I think this will be a good year for the BE (and UD)- Good luck guys.

Yead , id be surprised to see more than 3 teams in the first AP poll. Nova top 5, X top 10 and Creighton probably 20-25 range........Seton Hall, Butler and Georgetown getting votes.

With CBS and Blue Ribbon (which has all sort of resonance with initial polls) both ranking Butler. You can pretty much take to the bank Butler will be rated given where they are in those things.

Joe Bob at the Boise Gazette Sentinel Tribune leans heavily on those sort of publications when he needs an initial offering.

Not to mention, voters tend to just end up voting for schools they've voted for before absent a lot of data and Butler has been ranked almost 50% of the weeks in the AP the last decade.

I can see that for Butler. Creighton may be a bit more difficult initially. For the last 3 years- neither one has been in all that much. Butler in 20/58 and Creighton in 12/58. Creighton last 2 years in once.

Just looking at last year, there were 4 teams in the Blue Ribbon top 25 that weren't ranked in either poll to start the season. Oregon, SMU, Texas A&M, and Dayton. Also Michigan wasn't in the coaches top 25 to start the season. Of the 5 teams who weren't in one or both of the polls, they all were in the 17-25 range of the Blue Ribbon poll.

I will be surprised if we make the Top 25 in AP or Coaches. We will definitely get some votes in both though.

Butler only received 6 points in the final coaches vote last year after the NCAA tournament and then lost their 2 most accomplished players. Why would anyone think they are suddenly a Top 25 team?

Kelan Martin. Honestly, I'm not sure, but he has a very good shot at leading the Big East in scoring next year.
