The regular season is over. AAC has no locks.

If you don't see a problem with this, you're clearly in denial.

Just wanted to bump this.

It's just perfect.

Stever, as someone else asked, why are you so obsessed with the AAAC? You claim you are just a HUGE basketball fan. Then why is the AAAAAC the conference you post about 90% of the time on a Big East message board?

Love seeing stever jump through hoops, attempt death defying mental gymnastics, and move goalposts to defend all things AAC. He's like a trained seal, in one post rpi is the end all be all, next post it's record against rpi top 100, next it's kenpom, yada, yada, yada. The only thing that doesn't change is that the teams that benefit from which ever particular metric he decides to use are always AAC teams, UConn especially. I know stever isn't a Georgetown fan, the more I think about it I truly believe he's a Husky fan.

He's Mike Aresco. No random UConn fan would go to these lengths. He has to be getting paid for this.

I've liked the AAC since they've had a few teams that were in the old Big East, plus I thought with Memphis, Temple in particular that would be a really nice core with UConn and Cincy. I just like(err, love) basketball in general. I really don't like how the P5 has taken over everything, and want conferences like the Big East and AAC to have their really good teams.

If this were the case, then why do you spend hours every day trying to tear down the one conference outside the F5 that is beating at least some of them at their own game? Why spend the last three pages of this thread attacking every team outside the F5+AAC? I feel like I'm going crazy trying to figure out your motivation here.

I'm sorry, analyzing teams to me isn't trying to tear down a conference. When a team was going as badly as Butler was going earlier in the conference season, what are you supposed to do, say that everything is going to be ok? Or bringing up that PC's KP rating isn't that strong at #55. They were/are real issues. Fortunately this year, Butler and PC fixed things enough to get in. That's great. That's not tearing down a conference. If you are saying what I've said about the tourney meaning everything, I'll stand by that 100%. If Nova and X fall flat on their face, you better believe the media will be all over it. To a LOT of folks, college basketball is a 3 week season, and we're still in the preseason. And if you are talking about FS1, I'm sorry, that's still a very real problem.

I've never liked teams like St Mary's getting in. 18/26 of their wins vs teams 200 or worse. To be 26-5 with teams like that means nothing to me.

The sheer number of man hours you have put in trying to come up with ways for things to go poorly for the Big East can't really be taken as anything but an attempt to tear down the conference. Your standard formula is "if this bad thing happens, in conjunction with this other thing, then X bad result for the Big East will occur." That's not dealing in facts, it is hypotheticals designed to attack the Big East, on a Big East message board no less. Shall I run down the highlights over the past three years or did my friend from Nova lay them out sufficiently in the other thread? Just a quick reminder I suppose.

Recruiting drop off. Hasn't happened. Even woeful MU is bringing in top tier talent.
Poor tv ratings. We are drawing better than the Pac 12 and have had several nationally broadcast games on big Fox.
Low number of bids. We will be averaging 5 bids come selection Sunday, maybe wind up with a 6th if something crazy happens.
No respect. We have had two top 10 teams for the majority of the season. Hall, Butler, PC all ranked at one point.

We make more tv revenue from basketball than some of the F5 conferences, we beat them the majority of the time when we play, we have excellent facilities, and kids want to come here. The one thing that can be held against us is that we haven't had an elite 8 team yet. Guess what, neither has the Big 12 since the split. They didn't in 2013 either, but some small school from Wisconsin wound up there. That's right, the BE has a more recent elite 8 than the Big 12. Go bother them about it.We may or may not break that barrier this year, but regardless we are in a great position.

I don't know why I waste my time.

Stever I think it's more the fact you use whatever stats hurt the Big East. You use different stats at different times and only the ones that hurt the Biig East. Many times you bring up good points and you do a lot of research but you tend to argue against Big East teams... A lot.

At the end of the day all of this will be over very soon. All this RPI, Kenpom, stuff I hate reading about will all go away for months. All these stats and all these teams on the bubble, it will all be sorted out on Sunday and then this board can go back to just rooting for one another like it is during the non conference portion of the season

The thing is, a lot of times the extreme stats are the ones that hurt teams the most. Most of the times the resumes are very close... but take Syracuse who lost today. They are now 3-7 road/neutral vs the RPI top 100. The OOC schedules that the Big East teams had another one...
