a) a conference is defined by the number of NCAA bids received.
b) Teams are defined by how well/poorly they perform in the NCAA's.

There is no magic in a 10 team league. Dbl round robin is not an ideal. A 10 team league is leaving NCAA money - a minimum of $2-3 Million annually (another $100-300K per school), on the table for the other leagues to snatch up. Both Butler and X were invited into this league based on their NCAA resumes. How little creighton got in is still a mystery, lol.

and DudeAnon... as you are well aware as an Xavier fan, NCAA Bids ARE the end all-be all, as bids are worth 1.5 mill (minimum) or so over their 6 year payoff life. The more bids the bigger the annual payoff to the conference and to our individual teams. In a 10 team league one can expect 4-6 bids per year with 4 or 5 being the norm, 6 being the max. outlier. In a 12 team league as pointed out by JP 5-8 bids are the range, with 6 or 7 being the norm, and 8 being the outlier. Simple math = more dinar per school.

http://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files ... 20Plan.pdf Pgs 7-10

2013-14, 4 bids - 4 games/4 units (@$250,100.00) $6,002,400.00 ($100,040.00/school per year over 6 years)
2014-15, 6 bids - 7 games/7 units $10,504,200.00 ($175,070.00/scholl per yr over 6 yrs)
2015-16, 5 bids - 5 games/5 units $7,503,000.00 - a minimum of 5 ($125,050.00 school per yr over 6 yrs)

12 Tm 2015-16 - 6 bids 6 games/6 units (min) $9,003,600.00 ($125,050.00/mimimum per school per yr over 6 yrs)
2015-16 - 7 bids 7 games/7 units (min) $10,504,200.00 ($145,891.67/minimum per school per yr over 6 yrs)
2015-16 - 8 bids 8 games/8 units (min) $12,004,800.00 ($166,733.33/minimum per school per yr over 6 yrs)

As a Basketball 1st league, it is not wise to leave NCAA monies on the table.
Also when ND or Gonzaga, along with BC or Holy Cross join the league, they will add to the middle and bottom - not necessarily the top of the league. More is better both from a basketball perspective and a fiscal perspective. The tv contract can be amended with the addition of content.

Just because I argue in favor of something doesn't mean it is because its the status quo. You don't think all the bigger conferences wish they could trim the fat? Ask Dayton how they like playing Fordham and Duquesne every year. Its a lose-lose.

N.D. and Gonzaga ain't coming. So its stupid to even lists those. BC (RPI 200) and Holy Cross (RPI 150)...I can't even believe you propose those 2, it shows just how out of whack you are. There is only one school worth expanding for: UCONN. And for what its worth, I think we should drop Creighton for them if possible. Great fan support, but they are a geographical outlier and their program seems to be trending downwards (last place last year right?)

Three years and no travel problems for other teams.
I don't think you've watched us this year. We're far better than last year. But I shouldn't expect anything less from you, Dude.

A Nova fan pissing on Creighton's NCAA success? Last year notwithstanding, we played in the previous 3 tourneys and won one game in each. So 6 total NCAA units to our conference.

6 units in 4 years
or
2 units during our Big East membership

Is that really any different than Nova? And how many teams have contributed more to the Big East since realignment occurred?

He's not a Nova fan, he's an X fan. But seriously, after a small sample size of a couple of early exits after winning at least a game everybody wants to attack Nova's tournament play. Anytime anyone else in this conference wants to compare NCAA tourney historical resumes feel free, we'll see how we match-up.

He is an X fan and after one losing season in the last 18, Creighton is trending downward and he would like to replace Creighton with UCONN. Strange, coming from a fan of a team that joined the same time we did. I can't wait till X has a losing season and I can post that they are trending downward and should be replaced with Dayton! As far as the Tournament credits, that is an area Creighton needs to improve in the future and hopefully we will. I have great hope for Nova this year. They looked great in Omaha!

I hate when people suggest we should drop a current member. It's beyond insulting.

I also love the round robin and would hate to see it go. That would be a real shame.

Every fanbase has their share of jerks. I wish fewer would fly the X banner.

There is no call for broadly insulting/belittling any one of our member schools or their fanbases on this forum. It taints the entire well, degrades the whole board. Focus your negative energies outside this great conference.

Heyyy, it's okay... I hear SLU needs a "travel partner" on the western front of the A-10...c'mon UConn.
(Vegas says the odds are better for Obama's 3rd term, than UConn rejoining the Big East) L0l with that UConn wetdream Dudeanon. Yo Dude...sounds as though your fellow Xavier fans know you well-a real prince of a guy, lol. ;)

Awww, Mr. Admin... you removed those 2 posts - for good board decorum and civility, no less. Shucks. I was merely acknowledging the compliment given me by a fellow board member.

I shall strive to my utmost to be civil and polite in my postings on this venerable site - gtmoBlue ;)

My disgust wasn't directed at all X fans, just one! I love what your team is doing this year and think they have great potential for a deep run. X v Nova 2 should be fun to watch!
